Well we can still use the empbot to talk with people on Ra's server. But we gotta be honest and realize that Ra has pretty much left us. If his server isn't working properly, we go all night and never get a game connected. I just tried this hamachi thing and haven't had a game not connect yet. It's an option that needs to be looked at seriously because we have a whole lot of failed handshakes lately. To add to Youks... once you download the file and run it you need to do some things in Emp. Go to your options menu and click on "network". There you will need to click the drop down on the right and select the second IP address. Once you do that then go into the "multiplayer info" tab. There you need to select LAN as your method of play. Once that is done back out and select multiplayer game as you would for playing on-line. This service creates a virtual LAN between all parties connected to it. No need for a server. You will need to make sure that people are there or you wont be able to play. The drawback is that all the commands that we have grown accustomed to in Ra's, don't exist here. So there isn't a web address that you can go to and see if anyone is on. I had abot $8000 in tools stolen in Houston. If you stay away from there you should be fine. BTW thanks for gettin online that last night before leaving. Some of the funnest games I have played in a while.

Voodoo I wasn't referring to a set # of units. I was referring to the set amount of money. The other houses have the initial advantage because they can make stronger units in the beginning. This is negated because atreides can sit in their base and put up turrets. The Atr machine gun turret is more versatile than either of the other 2 houses initial turret. It works well on mech units and infantry. This allows them the time to sit and tech up without fear of running out of money. Now if tey had to go mine for spice...they wouldn't be able to just sit and defend with turrets. They would have to come out and do battle. This is my opinion. I know there are guys like Appo who can take a few Atr units and march on some1's base. This isn't the norm. It's the exception.

Non spice maps suck(IMO). The fact that I hate them is where my nick came from. I only play spice maps. Without spice a weak player can choose atr which(IMO) has the strongest defensive capabilities. They can build turrets and minos and just move at a very leisurely pace until they have massed a huge force. Spice makes you actually have to come off your rock. If you don't your opponent can cut off your money and in effect kill you. I think we're a little off topic though. I would have to agree with Alchemi over Voodoo on the "dumping" of units. It does make you think about what you are queuing up. You don't want to go hog wild queuing up units that are no good against what your opponent is producing. As for the "clickfest", well, it really is. We are constantly clicking during the game. If you're not clicking, you're dying. Rushes are indeed a not so widely used tactic. They were used allot in the days of clans. The fact is it is an effective way to gain an advantage in a game. They are not so commonly used anymore because most of the people want a game that lasts. And that isn't decided within the first 2 minutes. I don't agree that your build process and unit choice is a "flippant" process. Most of us have spent a great deal of time working on our BO's and unit choices. That in itself shows that the original author doesn't have a clue about online play. I would agree to a point that units are disposable. Lets face it, you can't make an omelet without breaking a few eggs. And I am very willing to break a few eggs. Or sacrifice a few units to gain an advantage. On the other hand I'm not willing to send units on a suicide mission if there is nothing substantial for me to gain.

I killed it with fremen as well. But the point of the thread was that he wanted a save point after killing the worm. I don't think that's possible. If we're gonna talk about how we played that mission...I like to capture the guild cannons and use them against the enemy also. Was fun using their own gun against them.

Been a few years since I played the missions...but if memory serves...there was no option to save after beating the worm. I thought it went straght to credits and such.

Lemme guess, they use hark and get the missle tank. Use the tank to kill cobra or mino and than lay siege to your con yard? Did I miss anything?

I think it may be an issue with RA's server. I was at my sisters house a few days ago and thought I could come online incognito with a new nick. When I tried it gave me the same "bad password" message. I was using my new laptop and had just installed emp, so it couldn't be that I had too many nicks. And since I was at my sisters house it couldn't have recognized my IP address.

Well I have your original patch and I luv it. Don't see any reason why I wouldn't want he new one. Sounds like it might add a little spice(pun intended) back to the game.

Well this topic has pretty much covered the reasons why some people play the game as compared to others. I for one play for fun...but on the other side of that same coin, winning is more fun than losing.

I've said it before and I'll say it again...I would rather lose a close game than win by a slaughter. To me a close game = a fun game. Gotta admit it is more fun to win the close ones though. ;D

Well if I play anymore you can beleive that the only time I would play with you Kalem is when no1 else is available. I also don't really care what you do in a 1 on 1 game. Team games wheen your harv droppin me and your partner is attacking me is when it sucks. Your harv drops alone only make u a broke mo-fo during a game. And since you really have no fighting abilities to support a harv drop I say 1 on 1 go ahead and drop away. However in a team game try and show some class.

Well I see things haven't changed a whole lot in the last couple of months. Somebody always seems to take a topic and run it about as far off topic as humanly possible. I will attempt to get back on topic. 1. I pretty much agree with the ranking system guns posted, and I would probably rate myself as around 7-8. 2. Out of the people still playing the only one I would rate higher than an 8 is pearl. He is the only one I play and think I am going to lose before the game even begins. This is not to take anything away from any1 else, it's just that he is the only one that I would have to admit fear on my part. 3. There are plenty of guys that I would rank along the same line as myself. Ra, Scar(before his time off),mjn4,Gun(who probably puts himself in a higher category), herm(when he isn't experimenting), mord(who I'm positive puts himself higher). 4. The guys who in my opinion are 1 category below only because they haven't shown cosistency with their game...lets not name names on this one, I'm sure they all know who they are. No slams intended in this post. Just some nerds opinion. :O :-X

Normally I don't either. In this particular instance I think he was just overly exited because he had just beaten me for the first time in a heads up game. He used all words that individually were spelled correctly as english words, however when he strung them together there was absolutely no coherent thought that I could make out. I was not tryin to be mean or belittle him in any way. It was just my joking way of saying that I didn't understand what he had typed.

Along with the setts vodoo metioned, give all ai players theilaxu as a sub house. You will find this to be a most annoying game at the very least. There is also a map that Kalony put up on the download page. I forget the name, but it is one difficult map. With Kalony as a prtner we only beat it once. It's a map where the ai has access to all 3 houses, it has guild mega canons and the whole nine yards. Little help from some1 who knows the name of it please?

As for me, my comment was made to say that I didn't undersatnd what u had just typed. So I mearly stated "english please". Now if that is taken as some sort of insult, than maybe his english is worse than I thought. I am not going to apologize because I didn't insult or degrade him in any way. I only said and I quote "english please". BTW I do happen to agree with Alchemi in that there are a great number of people from non english speaking countries that do very well. Kalem included. You all do better at english than I could ever possibly hope to do in your native tounges.

I just got home from work and tried to get online and play. I couldn't. Ra any ideas as to how long we're looking at? BTW Empbot isn't working either.

As far as Emp goes I would have to use the old analogy that it takes money to make money. I don't recall them ever marketing the game. Maybe with some advertising revunues being spent on RTS instead of always on FPS, it may have actually had a chance to make some money. Most kids nowadays are going to buy(or ask their parents to buy) whatever they see on TV. But since that didn't happen we can only speclate at this point what could have been.

I think he's talking about the missions. When the computer attacks you, you have the option to defend or resign. I think if you resign it gives you a defeat(can't say for sure because I never resigned). Sounds like he's asking if there is a way to resign without getting a defeat going against him. My advice Mystical would be to just play the game and not resign. When the computer fights itself for territories in the campaign, you don't get to be involved. You only see the result of their battle on the territory map. What fun is that?

I wasn't being defensive. And where did you come up with immoral? Who said anything was immoral? I just asked why you were so interested if u don't play anymore. I ask because from my point of biew...if you were still interested you would be playing. And if not, you would probably just make a clean break from the game all together. I didnt dis you or call you any names. All I did was ask a question. Now you tell me which of us is defensive.
