I have been invited into a mod team which will mod Unreal Tournament 2003 in a contest.

The winner team will get approximately 500000 USD($500k), a license of the Unreal engine worth 350000USD($350k), and each team member will receive a computer each worth 3000 USD.

There are prices even for the fifth place :)

Do you think I shall enter it?

If I do, I will be less available for other work, but this is very promising.

It's no joke either, because the competition has been held each year by Nvidia, with AMD and lots of others as sponsors.

Btw, the team looking for more team members. If you are very good at something, and would like to get the oportunity to get rich, please contact me.

What I might have to loose is the current projects :(

I won't be able to work on them for quite some time(the winner is selected about this time of year next year)

how many people are allowed to enter the contest? what countries are allowed to enter? is there an entry-fee /pre-qualification standard?

answer these questions and we'll all have a better perspective on how big your odds of losing will be and hence can better advise you on how much of a waste of your time it will be

The maximum number of contestants, I think is unlimited.

I also think that there is no entry fee.

There should be no restrictions to where you live, but in case, the american member of the team will sign up for us.

You can enter no matter how bad you are in your work.

Many of the teams will quit their work because they find it too hard.

all these things are very bad signs. they mean your chances of winning are in the range of NONE - MINISCULE

your time would be better spent on your other projects.

the only teams who will "drop-out" are the amateurs who had no hope in heck of winning anyhow.

I didn't wait any positive replies from you, Navaros, but thanks for your opinions.

I will get a great amount of experience in this project. Greater than in any other project. However, it will be very sad leaving the other projects I am working on(Sardaukar2000 :'(). Well, I promise I will never leave it, but the time until a release date will increase.

Most of my projects has been failures, but they have provided me with very much experience.

I think I will enter this contest.

I don't think there's very much ini work to be done for this mod.

But your storyskills will be appreciated.

I must talk to the team gatherer first, but you could almost consider yourself in :)

Please nav, 90% of those who enter will be total idiots who don't even know where to start but dream of the prize. Half of the remaining percentage will get somewhere and the project will break down, grind to a halt or be a flawed idea that is way over their heads.

-I will assume that Cyborg and his team will be in the top 5 percent.

-If they have a clear story/mod idea

-If it is FUN to play (the actual complexity of the mod will not win the prize) Depending on the skills of the other members in the team and that they keep the project moving and are commited.

They will have a good chance. Go for it and even if you dan't win anything the experience will be invaluable to further editing.

Who better to provide the gamer with that spine tingling chill as the players divulge into the great story line while their minds are blown by the amazing game play than Empworm and myself ;), ;), *nudge, nudge*, know what I mean, know what I mean... ;D

Yeah dude enter! Go for it , win, get the cash and the comp and have a great time. Youve got nothing to loose besides time working on other things that can be picked up later. And besides if you guys win than we will have champagne and cigars waiting for your guys :) .
