Going into this campaign, I expected the British to play purely a supportive role to our forces. I have to say now that I have a new found respect for the British military. They did a fantastic job in Basra and other areas in southern Iraq. I would like to thank the British military for the absolutely vital role they have played so far.

Yeah! Not just capture it and say "Saddam's forces are no longer here" and just proceed to Baghdad >:(

This comment does not even deserve a response. It is exactly what I have come to expect coming from Lowzeewee, Fanatical stupididy. ::)

Yes, Caid, looting needs to stop before it gets ugly. I worry about this. But, it would be immensely beneficial if we could set up Iraqi controlled civil service to do it. This may take time.

Amongst the Arabs looting after a battle is considered normal behaviour, to interupt them would incur their distrust and anger so long as the looting is confined to the former property of the defeated party.

It is not considered acceptable to loot from

non-combatants as demonstrated by the stoning of people attempting to steal aid trucks. So long as the looting is confined to items related to the regime it will be tolerated, any attempt to steal ordinary Iraqi's property or equipment belonging to the Coalition or aid groups will not.

Well, MY hat's off to the Germans, French and Russians.

Yes, they encouraged prolonging the murder, rape and torture of innocent Iraqi citizens. And before you come back with one of your patented, incredibly stupid responses, NO we will not do the same.

the british did a great job fighting. Tony blair did amazing too, even though it was extremely unpopular for him to do what he did, he went through with helping an ally. have a new found respect for him, although I dont like his ideas at all.lol

my hat goes off to both the british and the american soldiers, who liberated iraq from a vile dictator.

However, my hat does not go off for Premier Blair, or Dick Cheney or Rumsfeld. They are a bunch of shitholes. Bush is not as bad as he always seems. Rumsfeld and Cheney however find it easy to intimidate him.

It's admirable for Tony Blair to commit political suicide for doing what he thought was right, I'll give him that much credit. The British soldiers did an outstanding job in Iraq. The Americans did overall well (they were IMO to agressive, and they shot more of their own and the British then the Iraqis did). So, my hatt of for the peeps in the field. Bush is still a dick though.

I'd imagine you should. They protected their interests at all cost to others, both in their oil deals with the former Iraq and France's $5,000,000,000 to Saddam Hussein. Their communist-like self-interest was unphased.

Germany, I don't have any dirt on them. France sold weapons to Saddam before we invaded. Russia sold weapons and GPS Scramblers to Saddam before we invaded...GPS Scramblers that could disrupt targetting on smart bombs to destroy military targets in civilian areas, that could possibly make these bombs go awry and into the wrong building possibly...

Saddam and company were not that smart with any of the technology they had if they had been the war would have went different. I am pointing out what you said about the GPS devices true but Saddam I think did not have a clue about the use of those.

Me to. It's amazing how they can economically deal with a country, which ignores all UN resolutions ;D

True, and in all cases, the UN is ineffectual. Like North Korea. Now they want us to take a unilateral approach to this situation. This is ironic, and sad since it futher shows their stupidity.

Posted

UN was created to be a watchdog over democracy and human rights. So why there are only about 30 countries of 200 which know what it is?

North Korea is an entirely different issue, Miles. Unlike Iraq, we know for a fact that they're making nukes (and selling them!). But if that's your stance, then piss off.

Those countries seems to think that THEY can do everything. First, they are against the war and inofficially "supporting" human slaughter. Not only that, they then, after the war (well, now) want full responsibility of rebuilding Iraq. I say f_ck them. They haven't done a single good thing since the war started, so they should blame themselves for not participating in a peace operation.

My hat off the brits too!! They showed they were against Blair going to war!!

But anyway, even if I think the consequences will be even worst globally, I'm still pretty happy for Iraqis who I think are the first that should get hats in all this...
