Thinking of the members on this. the leet uprisings of the past and of the future.....

What is leet? whare did it come from how can it be stoped. Here is what I have so far.Tell me what ya think of my report....

There are three things that contribute to the spread of the degenerative mind disease "1337".

The first, of course, is a genetic susceptibility to the virus. This can be identified by the presence of a faulty recessive gene believed to be located on the X-chromosome (since males are far more susceptible to the disease than females). Other traits often associated with the presence of this gene are the absence of any recognizable social skills and an extreme intolerance of sunlight.

The second consideration is the environmental factor. 1337 is most often, but not always, contracted by adolescent children in affluent suburban communities. There also appears to be a high concentration of "1337"-positive individuals among the 18-30 age group, especially those living in relatively unkempt apartments or on college campuses. The common thread between these populations seems to be the presence of too much free time (usually facilitated by lack of a job), a computer, and a high-speed internet connection.

The third factor is, of course, the virus itself. The virus is typically contracted online, where it is at its most contagious, although there have been several documented cases of direct contraction of the virus. The most dangerous spots to be aware of are in internet games popular amongst "gamers," and in the chatrooms associated with that group.

In fact, for a time, the virus was almost strictly limited to the gamer population, and had acquired the name GRID (for Gamer-Related Intelligence Disorder), although the name has since been changed, as GRID was thought to be offensive to the gamer community.

Currently, there are no known cures of "1337", and no available vaccinations. Research has been hampered by a severe lack of funding, as most people still believe the disease to only affect gamers. It is believed to be invariably terminal over a span of 5-10 years, with the patient ultimately loosing all grip upon reality, although researchers still hold out hope that an effective treatment may surface. Nonetheless, without greater public awareness and greater funding, the chances are slim that those who have contracted this awful and debilitating disease will ever have hope for a normal life.

I didn't want to say it...But yep

Gila is a perfect example of ALS(advanced L337 Syndrome) His Mental sharpness and ability has deteriorated greatly since his first exposures to l337. It can be contributed to his large obsession with "Otaku" and other Japanese things. These Led to Forums, Online Comics, and after a long enough period of time. The old Gila died and he became Y a l337 stricken forum member. Gila is believed to be in the final stages as can be seen in his occasional fan fic posts. He is becoming Reclusive, Paranoid and Most likely Delusional.

His posts In fan fic lack any grammar structure or integrity and it is obvious he is slipping into the last stages of ALS.

as you can see from the three differant variations of leet there are many kinds but leet doesn't really have an alphabet its manly a concept like example: ph34r m3 (fear me) or f34|^ (fear) or 0wn4g3 (ownage) and |-|4x0|^5 (hackers).

Hey, thanks for you guys' help in the matter. I am actually surprised to get this many replies. (|7$ 7|-|3 L337 R0xz0r$ ;D lol) Thanks for the explanation in origin of L337. Is it in some places L337 is greatly dispised? I read the rules in the fanfic about it and understand that.

Alright, if it is not liked I'll let this topic die. But thanks again! R0xz0r!

If you want to practice "leet" I suggest you logon to the IRC server nearest you. Just about every channel on undernet uses it. I can't stand it myself.
