hey chaps, i was wondering.... did anyone here read books of Tom Clancy? (he wrote a lot) and can you tell me if he'sa good writer or not? I'm thinking of buying a book of him

Depends if he actually wrote it or just sold his name to a series of books which were then written by other authors. Any Jack Ryan novel is great, any of the op-centre, net-force, etc. arn't written by him, jsut use his name.

hmmm honestly i can't tell ya... i didn't select one book. I just saw a couple of his books, and they looked pretty neat.

Perhaps you can write down a list though with the titles you think are good. Perhaps i can pick one of those.

thnx in advance.

You can read the "big books", because they will still become movies in the future. Like "Rainbow Six" and "The Bear and the Dragon".

Those books, Mahdi, were written by him, but not him alone - it was a co-oped project.

His books are awesome, if you like that sort of thing. I heard raving reviews of Red Rabbit, and a few bad things about it, just read it and see for yourself.

He still writes books, even though he is rich Scy. And he does not have his own game company, there is a company called UbiSoft that makes the Tom Clancy games - in which he oversees and comments on certain things.

Acriku: He came up witht he original concept and basic story, others wrote the actual bok, which is whyt eh style is so different from his actual novels. It's nothing new int he literary world, except that he's giving some credit to those who actually wrote the books. Back in the 19th century, for example, famous authors would have about 40 other authors int here employ, and the main author,w ho would get all the credit, would coem up with the basic concept and story, athen send it to the other authors to write. Then, eventually, if you were one of the fourty authors and good enough, yous truck out on your own.

Flameweaver: Any novel feature Jack Ryan as a chracter, along with Red Storm Rising and Without Remorse are actually written by him and are great. Anything with a title like Op-Centre: blah blah or netfore: blah blah is not really written by him.

Ok that clears things up a bit. But the others were from his own hands, yes? I liked NetForce : BreakPoint (the only one I have/read), it was cool/intense/really cool.
