lowzeewee Posted March 27, 2003 Posted March 27, 2003 OK about ammo. What actually if 2 enemy companies of troops runs out of ammo for their rifles/machine guns that are their bullet-weapons[handguns,rifle,etc.] and only have their knifes left. Will they fight with their knifes or will they consider it a stalemate and run away?
Anathema Posted March 27, 2003 Posted March 27, 2003 Run, and call in air support to kill the other guys.
lowzeewee Posted March 27, 2003 Author Posted March 27, 2003 ok thanks ;DNeeded some real-life current war info for my fanfic thread.j/kWHat if air and armored support is unavaliable
Caid Ivik Posted March 27, 2003 Posted March 27, 2003 Then they have to use cold weaponry. I think logic is a nice way to find out.
ken124578 Posted March 27, 2003 Posted March 27, 2003 I think they would get new supplies (ammo, bombs etc) dropped.
GhostHunter Posted March 27, 2003 Posted March 27, 2003 Theres ALWAYS air support ready. America always has planes ready to help troops.
Davidu Posted March 27, 2003 Posted March 27, 2003 He didn't mean US... he meant in general.Well, I think they'll try to resupply...If not, they'll start biting each other like dogs. Isn't this called "dog-fight"? lol
Acriku Posted March 27, 2003 Posted March 27, 2003 They would never fight until they have no ammo, unless they are trapped. Once they see that they are running low on ammo, they call for supplies - and if they do not have any supply vehicles able to come to them, they reserve their ammo very wisely. Hopefully a supply vehicle can come then, but if not then they hide out with the little ammo they have left and wait.
Acriku Posted March 27, 2003 Posted March 27, 2003 I don't think starvation will be their primary worries...Besides, they have rations in their bags. 3 weeks is a long time, long enough for things to change - whether it be the enemy rushing them, or the friendlies surrendering, or support coming.
Davidu Posted March 27, 2003 Posted March 27, 2003 Yeah, you're right. But what about this scenario: both sides have no more ammo, no more food (or very small supplies) and no support. Something like 2 plutoons standed on an island. Could they sign truce and share their food?
Acriku Posted March 27, 2003 Posted March 27, 2003 I guess it would depend on the orders from command, and whether or not they know the enemy has no ammo. It'd be bad to tell the enemy in case they have ammo and decide to rush and kill you. Probably a stalemate until death, or on side gets the courage to rush the other without ammo.
Cyborg Posted March 27, 2003 Posted March 27, 2003 If someone runs out of ammo, it's usually the attackers. They tend to retreat if they run out of ammo though. And btw, no army attack without a constant flow of supplies for their soldiers.
Mihail Posted March 28, 2003 Posted March 28, 2003 I agree. The only time when they ran out of ammo,is when they fought honorably, and that has WAAAAAAAAAY past.(I think the last time they fought with honor was at times in the American Civil War,when the 2 sides charged each other.
Acriku Posted March 28, 2003 Posted March 28, 2003 I beg to differ, low ammo was a common problem in both World Wars, more so in trench warfare.
thomas Posted March 28, 2003 Posted March 28, 2003 In WW2 on hte Island of seipai the japanese did a 400+ man charge with bayonets and katana, kind goes with the term 'death before dishonor'
lowzeewee Posted March 28, 2003 Author Posted March 28, 2003 did they even manage to kill a single enemy troop,i mean the jap troops
