Mute The Freakin' Speaker's Voice During Translations

It's so annoying when during an interview that is being translated, they have the guy translating the speaker's words to English, but the translator is speaking *over* the audio of the speaker. I hate that! What's up with that? Are they trying to drive innocent television viewers nuts with this idiotic procedure?

Is it a conspiracy by the television networks to increase the business of shrinks, who pay the stations to use this moronic way of presenting information in order to immorally increase their business?!

Mute the Freakin' Speaker's Voice During Translations!!! How is anyone supposed to pay attention to what he is hearing when one guy is speaking over another guy at the exact same time and both sets of words are competing simultaneously for the ear/brain's attention?!

What would help is just subtitling the original text. Then you can hear what they are saying (the volume, the style etc.) and you can read the translation in the subtitles.

It works perfect, here in the Netherlands we do it all the time, and you can learn some foreign languages too :)

and btw, arokh,if they interviewed an arab who speaks only arabian, how will you understand what the hell he is saying?

I think they should just put show the translation on the TV

Subtitles are far better - you can hear the original words, which is good if you know some of the language, though often they're not done here in case the blind are listening. The speaker's voice is usually muted.

Well blind people would surely benefit from having the guy speaking over the interview.

What about deaf people?

IMO, Subtitles is by far the best way to translate interviews and such.

We never dub anything else that childmovies here in Norway(and I am SO happy about it!).
