What else did you see in Disneyland ?

If Saddam has no support of his people, then how would he have any power over them? By continuously threatening to torture them and/or their families? He must have at least some small group of bodyguards or fanatic soldiers somewhere, even though the majority of the Iraqi 'military' is already deserting. Perhaps they just pretended to be loyal to Saddam and then seized their opportunity to escape when the time was right? What would become of these soldiers once, and if they do escape?

This shows the loyalty of the Iraqi people for real.

BTW if they are good at anything, it's liingg down and doing nothing,

(or they let women to do everything for them) but if they are worst at something it's fighting.

There are about 60,000? Republican Guard soldiers that are likely to put up the biggest fight. As for the rest who knows.

The motley band of a dozen troops waved the white flag as British paratroopers tested their weapons during a routine exercise.

The stunned Paras from 16 Air Assault Brigade were forced to tell the Iraqis they were not firing at them, and ordered them back to their home country telling them it was too early to surrender.

The drama unfolded last Monday as the Para batallion tested mortars and artillery weapons to make sure they were working properly.

Wow, surrendering before the war even starts; the French have been selling them training, too. :P

The problem is that he will most likely keep his elite and most loyal troops in Baghdad, then use the civilians as human shields. There are always those who strangely enough like Sadam, or those who hate the US more then they hate Sadam.

Does someone need training when possessing dirty weapons (read, nerve gas and such). I know, they haven't been found (yet). But, no country is 'clean' so surely you can expect Iraq to have them.

Posted

I may be misinformed (as I usually am) but I thought Saddam told the Kurds once the first USA bomb drops he'll gas them. Isn't that admitting to having the weapons right there? Or are we already aware of those weapons?

Posted

There is a difference by 'saying' you have weapons and actually possessing them. If you bluf a lot and 'play' it right, you can make a lot of things happen without actually doing something.

There is no real proof Saddam actually possesses these weapons, but i would not be suprised if he had them.

I only wish this is all over!

Kill Saddam and make Iraq a democratic country! Without war.

Those people have suffered for too long.

Posted

I wish that were possible too, Davidu. But it isn't. I'm sure you're not the first to think of assasinating Saddam. And I'm sure you wouldn't be the first to try. Even if we somehow did kill him, what's to stop someone in his regime from taking over? It's expected that when he dies, his son would take over, and his son is reputed as even more brutal that Saddam. That is, if we do not stop them entirely. If you cut off the head of the beast, it will simply grow another. We must slay it with a sword through the heart.

Posted

Then we have all the USA-haters/Laden supporters in the area, the living shields, the idiots etc who are willing to die and fight Americans... what a pity...

Posted

I don't think they're idiots. They're just manipulated extremely well. They're opressed. The ones who do oppose Saddam are killed. I see them in the light of victims as I do for those who died at the hands of Al Qaeda. I don't blame them for not opposing Saddam.

But I will NOT say the same thing about the ones IN Saddams organizations, the ones doing his dirty work. They're just as vile as he is.

Wow, you must be a real genius then Kirov, if you have all the answers. Why don't you post your brilliant solutions in my topic, "Your Alternatives to War"
