no... they aren't made from every part of the cow... the intestines are left out... you would be majorly sued if you put the intestines of any animal into a food...

the reson is... our favorite food poisoning friend E.Coli

every animal that produces produces methane gas in their stomachs (ahem.. known to us as ... a fart) has E.Coli in their intestines

they have a relationship with us, where they protect us from possible viruses or parasites in the intestines by creating basically a wall of bacteria along the edge of it.... and in return we supply them with food

but, the problem is... they can only live in our intestines with a relationship like that... anywhere else in the body and well... they turn evil

but, with mass produced beef sometimes they slip and a part of the intestine gets in or just some E. Coli gets in and that stuff replicates fast.... but if it's cooked at a high enough temperature, there is nothing to worry about :D

that's why mass produced beef is not the best thing to cook rare

but, if you get it from a beef shop that you know everyone there or something ... you have a much better chance of not getting it.....

ahhhh E. coli. aint it great ;D

Ouch man! That's always awful, I hope you feel better soon. It happens to all of us, you just have to live and learn I guess.

I ate a bad burger from a Wendy's in Salt Lake City. I thought that it would be fine, seeing as how it comes from the franchised Wendeys, but man I had pukes and the squitters for hours and hours. It was brutal.

Because of that, as a general rule, I don't eat any kind of beef from any kind of fast food place, and even most restraunts. I avoid hamburgers (Oprah agrees hehe) because they're made of a congomerate of all parts of the cow and you don't know what concentration of "the bad stuff" you'll get in your burger. It's too much of a risk, unless you get it from a really reputable place ie the Keg Steakhouse or something.

Keep hydrated, even if you don't feel like eating or drinking anything. When you do feel like eating, stay with bland food for a day or two. Remember, it won't last more than 24 hours.

Get well man!

thanks, Ace! Food poisoning packs quite a punch. it hits you from left field, but yes, I am hoping that I have the 24 hour variety. :)

It must have been red meat... if you get my drift. ;)

I remember when I had a similar experience last summer, after eating an immense amount of strawberries. I had never felt such intense pain in my life as the one in my stomach back then. And that's saying a lot.

I hope you get better soon. Don't hesitate to go to the hospital if things get bad.

listen, burgers kick ass. All of you are just health nuts! I just love to go down to McDonalds and buy 5 cheeseburgers for a few bucks and eat them all in like a few minutes. but I must admit... that george foreman grill is very good for cooking meat products. yum... hehe

Knocks out the fat! ;)

Remember, it could always be worse ie the norwalk virus. I had that a couple months ago, and man oh man it was hell. Its symptoms are clinically described as "Violent vometing and diarrhea" but violent doesn't do it justice. I was puking into a bucket while sitting on the toilet I was so worried about 'befouling' my pants.

Look at the bright side. When we have been sick for a couple of days we sure appreciate it when we are healthy again.

And when we know what caused the disease hopefully we will learn of our mistakes and try to prevent it from happening again when possible

I think I got food poisoning from a chicken sandwhich(or the flu). I don't feel good, yet I have to go to 2 classes today as they are reviews for exams Wednesday(in 30 minutes). (I left group work early as I felt bad.) I dont want to go to class and get sick, bleh!

Also since I walked to group work and back, thats 1/2 an hour walk, now I have to do it again. :-[ :'(

I'll bet 20 dollars on that he dies in two days...

no seriously though, i heard stuff like this before, a friend of mine was in vacation in england and ate chicken.. both he and his brother were sick the following couple of days. Food poisoning, yes it happens often to fastfood. Not realy the stuff at McDonalds, but indeed, like they said... gas stations. Where it is prepared and then put into a heater for the rest of the day, only to be picked up 20 hours later. God knows what they had done with that burger. A friend of mine worked at McDonalds and once dropped something on the ground. His manager then told him to put it back in the frying pan.

Get better emp.
