Vanguard3000
BTW Kindjals are small one man planes. Not in the originals, they aren't. IIRC, it's like a sword on the end of a spear.
exatreide
huh? no its not its a doubbel bladded dagger, Kindjals actully exist.....
Inoculator9
Kindjals do exist actually. The plane called a Kindjal is just a symbolic name like P-52's being called Warthogs.
Dunenewt
Int eh BJ Kindjals are planes
Digital Guerrilla
Ok I have the BJ but have only read about 2 chapters so your right but from the original novels kindjals are swords.
Dunenewt
I think we are both right...we should post about it in that Prequel error thread
Digital Guerrilla
Yeah we are I thought it was like in EBFD they have "kindjals" but they are rocket launcher armed infantry units.
Vanguard3000
I know Kindja;s are real things, but I forgot what they were exactly.Anyway, those crystal shard pistols are called chandler pistols.

ken124578
A de-wateriser? ???Or should i name some real weapons that are used in the books?
Vanguard3000
There are also bodkins, which are like stiletto type blades that can be concealed in a wrist sheath.Oh, and Ex: I didn't think they used flamethrowers, but rather they fired the afterburners of their transport at them. That may have just been a miniseries thing, though. It sucks how it's easier to remember stuff from TV than it is from books. ;)
Inoculator9
They did actually use flamethrowers, but they were mainly used for killing wounded soldiers. Like after battles soldiers would clear piles of wounded allies and enemies alike with them.
exatreide
I know, I ment that they used the after burners as flame throwers :)
Inoculator9
I know, I was responding to Vanguard.
Mahdi
Multiple different types of swords and knives are named, more than likley all melee weapons known to us will be avaiable then. Rapiers are mentioned by name. Daggars.
Inoculator9
Rapiers are mentioned by name, along with long and short swords I think, but no specific names of these. Most weapons of the blade assortment that are mentioned, are given names and a symbolic value. What I mean is, any important blade is made obvious. Vanguard3000
I'm betting larger blades like claymores would be rare, seeing as how they're made for a lumbering chop (which would probably be deflected), rather than a precise blow.
Mahdi
Agreed. The swords used would be those with which you have much greater control, ie. those used in fencing, perhaps katanas as well? What is that spanish form of combat, utilising both a long sword and a knife? That would likley be quite popular in the duniverse.
