my trip to the ocean

That looks really nice :)

It looks cold though!!!

it wasn't very cold really, or maybe I'm just used to it. I think maybe 13-14 degrees celsius or around there. was quite nice, actually. To be honest, there is really no bad time to see the ocean (except when a tidal wave is coming :D )

You have a point there... I would love to live by the sea (I live in Englad.. the idea of an "ocean" is beyond my wildest dreams... it's just "the sea" where I live!!)

It's like a dream of mine, to be able to go to the beach whenevr I want at any time of year and just look out to sea...... *sigh*

Well, if the english weather is blocking you from going outside at any given time during the years, the dutch weather is worse, it feels like if your hands are freezing off in the winter (no joke)

the ocean is the best place in the world. i don't know what it is, but it is captivating. that is why i could never live in a non-coastal area. i live about an hour and a half from the shores of the pacific, and i never get tired of seeing it. Here is a couple other photo's of my fun trip:

another seagull (my favorite bird)

Actually I dont live that far from the sea if I think in time scale.. it takes about an hour to drive to the nearest coast.. but its a place called Skgness... those of you from the UK may have heard of Skegness.. it's.... well.. kinda dirty.. not so much sea as brown muddy water!

Amanzimtoti (very hot and humid) is really VERY close to the sea. In fact I could see it if I stood in my garden if all these stupid hills 'n' houses 'n' trees weren't in the way! (What do you do?)

I don't even go to the beach anymore (can't stand surfers (in South Africa they're low-life scum (not ALL of them, just in case some are reading this))).

I have a picture of a flying seagull very close. But I have to scan it first...

But when I was England I heard something about that a little boy was attacked by seagulls

Trees grow like crazy here! (You know, because it's a sub-tropical area.) Trees grow so fast here you think twice before you drop any kind of pip (else you may find yourself stuck in a tree).

The beaches... well, they're often dirty. The sea's cool; no one can piss in it - that's always a plus.

You know, isn't it funny: a guy called Sven (well, that's actually my second name) living in a sub-tropical region! It cracks me up. No, really.

But, you know, after all this complaining (it's what I do best), I like the sea. Don't know what I'd do without it (I'd have to drown myself in MY OWN swimming pool - yuck! ;D)

I live a few kilometers from Rutland Water. It's the largest man-made lake in Europe, and attracts 1 million visitors each year. It's hardly anything special, though. I much prefer the quiet of Westonbirt Arboretum, which is ~150 miles away, in Gloucestershire.

hey, dont' feel so bad, i live in New Mexico, we barely have a lake here, and all the ones that are here (sorta) are like 100 miles away

I snapped this picture last week when I went to the ocean of a seagull. i thought it turned out really well and wanted to show you all.

(in case you were wondering, its the Pacific ocean! :) )

Hehe, if that bird wasn't there, I could almost have imagined that that pic was rendered using Terragen, lol. ;)

How did you get that pic so clear? If the bird was moving in flight, then wouldn't it have been a bit blurry? Or wasn't it moving fast enough to affect the picture? ???

I live in southern california most beautiful beaches here. almost. its pretty cool since I'm only 20 minutes away from the nearest beach and from where I live you could ride your bike along a cool bike trail to the ocean but its 32 miles :P ( i did once though)

If I could scoot my chair back a bit (through the table) I could see the sea. :P

Oh no wait, it's dark so I can't. But I could walk down to the beach whenever. And the Atlantic ocean is just three hours away.

Hey Nema, go into more detail about those lakes, if like them, why?

Up here we have lochs (I don't know how to type how to pronounce it but it ISN'T 'lock'), in fact I'm only about 24 miles from Loch Ness. The water's brown (due to SILT AND MUD) but it does have a kind of beauty.

Right...how long until someone mentions Nessie I wonder?
