As you might or might not know, KH3 has now been officially announced! So far we have decided to include these features:

- new AI behaviours, so that the computer knows how to use the new units properly

- certain subhouse combos (having a certain combination of subhouses) will give you a new unit

- there will be 3 secret units that you'll need to find for yourself :)

- some units will have new and improved textures (and perhaps even new models)

- we will create a new map tileset by changing the old Caladan one.

Now we need more suggestions! Tell us what you'd like to see in KH3! But please don't post any ideas for new units, except maybe some ideas for a subhouse combo unit (you can't give us suggestions for the secret units, because they have to be, well... secret ;) )

Subhouse combos? What do you mean?

I think it would be sweet if you had for each side a crossover unit for one of the Sub houses.

For example, if you're Ordos and ally with Ix you can build stealth dust scouts.

I know that. And I was thinking of something completely different. Let me explain:

Duke and Apollyon's idea: If you are house X, subhouse Z gives you unit A. If you are house Y, subhouse Z gives you unit B.

My idea: No matter what house you are, if you are allied with BOTH subhouse Z and subhouse W, you will get an extra unit, unit C.

Now do you understand?

Edit: And by the way Duke, lots of people came up with that idea long before you. It's by no means yours. ::)

AI is certainly feasible. I've been playing with it. Just look at the AI rfhrfd.

Could someone send me the emperor AI (INI) file? Only if its not to big, and plz send it to s.hendriks2@chello.nl . I might dig up ideas for my own game here. Which should be 100% modable (through ini files that is).

really? I thought it was kingpin, not that it matters. Did you ever read his ideas for unit evolution, very interesting except the way he presented it made it impossible except that ive found a way around it now.

because the way it worked... this is going to get complicated i feel, was to differentiate dramatically between the amounts of points a vehicle will give a unit when destroyed in comparison to an infantry unit. To make it clearer:

vehicles= 100+ points

infantry = 1+ points

level 1 (infantry specialisation)

points req= 3

give machine gun or sumthing

==============================

level 2 (infantry specialisation)

points req= 6

can crush or sumthing

==============================

level 1a (actually level 3) - vehicle specialisation

points req = 300

cannon upgrade or sumthing

==============================

level 2b (actually level 4) - vehicle specialisation

points req = 600

speed increase or sumthing

now. fundamentally this will work, although a unit that is extremely advanced at killing infantry and has 6 points will immediately become the worst level of vehicle specialisation if it destroys any vehicles.

A few suggestions:

-Find some voices for the Smuggler units. Mutes really annoy me.

-Try to edit an XBF or two. For instance, Harkonnen and Ordos both have two turrets that look the same as another one. Gets slightly confusing...

-Corrino needs a "house advantage" of some sort. I used all of their infantry can't be supressed, and no, I don't mind if you use that. I'm not so picky. ;)

-The siege tank needs to do more damage, or have more HP, or something! It's a tad weak.

-The Lion and plasma turrets shoot flame... :-

-The grey icons need that dark blue hue.

My suggestion is to form a huge team to do this mod since it has alot of potential to also double as a trial run for doing

a "unofficial emperor patch".

Push the limit on this one, eh?

It was originally called "the unofficial expansion pack", which is larger than a patch. Besides, patches usually fix bugs and balance problems, they do not make radical changes to the game (such as adding a new House and new units).

If i remember right Dune2k got a patch that added the grenadier and stealth raider as new units, right?

The point is Westwood are never, ever in all eternaty going to release another patch for emperor that will fix bugs and adress balancing issues. And yes i know a patch should be small otherwise people won't download it. i also know the rules.txt as well as anyone that ever did Emperor mods -> you can fix some bugs and balancing problems, you don't need to make drastic changes.

KH was the first 'unofficial expansion' and it was a success, wasn't it? People have spent an awfull lot of time trying new things with this game. i'd hate to think Westwood was right to abandon Emperor.

Let's see about your suggestions, Duke:

1. I'm working on those voices. I'm trying to find out if we can actually ADD new voices to Emperor. :)

(but you should know that there are mutes even in the original Emperor - try selecting a group of Tleilaxu units)

2. KH2 was made and released before we could edit XBF's. We're gonna put the new editing techniques to good use in KH3. ;)

3. They already have one! The Corrino Rescue Vehicle can repair units AND heal infantry! And that's a bigger advantage than not having infantry supressed...

4. Yes, it's weak, but it's dirt cheap! (it costs less than a normal tank, even) That was the point.

5. They don't. That was just an annoying SFX that we couldn't get rid of. But it should be fixed in KH3.

6. We'll see what we can do. ;)

1. Oh, Tlelexu groups aren't supposed to talk? Whew, thought I'd messed something up...

4. I suppose our Corrino "styles" are a wee bit different...I have them like Harkonnen, big and powerful. (eg, Howitzer Tank.)

5. They look like they shoot flame, too.

6. Now, now, don't you be stealing my icons! ;D
