Duke_Leeeto Memorial Proposal {Community Project}

For being the second most useful and friendly guy ever in the Emp Community (second only to myself of course) - a guy who would always help the n00bs with WORKING ADVICE and specific helpful info that they could actually USE TO WIN in real gameplay, and for being one of the ONLY guys other than myself who ever posted anything even remotely interesting or creative on any Emp board. Also for being one of the most legendary fighters to ever step onto Arrakis, whose skills are so incomprehensibly perfect he may even beat your number 1 ATR gangster - I think there should be a Memorial to Duke_Leeeto.

Things that have come to mind that I think would be fitting for the legacy of Duke_Leeeto would be:

Epic Poems

Limericks

Times when he's helped you and brought joy to your life

Sonnets

The best Leeeto strat you've ever used to crush your enemy with

Any other sort of positive things you can think of that will honor this great man.

I am spearheading this project but I welcome CONSTRUCTIVE and positive community input and anyone's help who would like to help contribute some of these things or even your own ideas about what would be a fitting Tribute to Duke_Leeeto

You may very well "own" me now, Nav. You probably have a good five hundred games more experience than I do. Unfortunately, I don't have as much free time as you seem to, and you've obviously gotten much better. But I know for a fact that you have only beaten me once in the past, on Knife Fight, in a relatively long Atreides vs. Atreides battle, where the difference was really air drones. The other times we faced off, you either quit or I beat you. Mostly, you just quit. I even scolded you for it once, and you said something like, "Sorry, Taq, I didn't know that was you." Compared to the other QM players, you are a paper tiger, Nav, just like me, so don't go spouting off at the mouth when you've shown nothing real to back yourself up.

Duke Leeto was not a very good guy. I remember one QM game where he had me pressured but then I engied him and he said F*** you. That was funny =) Then he gave me a lecture on cheap tactics......at the same time, he had ix bombs.

I remember Leswish. I used to read the boards then but I don't think I posted. He was funny. Edrico, I think it was you and him who got into a huge argument over overpowered units. I remember he made a bunch of posts loaded with sarcasm about how the mino/drone/etc. all needed to be downgraded......that was funny.

Duke was a psyco, and I should know as much as anyone. I've played him lots, each game ended with either a flame, a threat to commit suicide, or some explanation of how God won't let him beat me. On the boards all he did was whine. Last post he made he said he was payments away from living on the street or something.

Le-swish, on the other hand, now he was a great guy. He had a huge stat page about all sorts of unit info where you could compare stuff, see build times, work out BOs, and all sorts of useful stuff. He also did that stat project on his parser where he compared all the houses in QM, and recorded the toatals and percentages of what house won what games, etc.

I wonder if I still have the screens of him blaming his losses on God...

le-swish was banned from the old boards, I think it had something to do with his arguing. I have his stat sheet posted on the site in the Emperor strategy section. He spent a lot of time on that thing.

I've never lost any *real* games to you, just meaningless 2vs2 skirmish where my partners, were n00bs I may add, so it was more like 2vs1 with you and playerap. I remember one game that had you and playerap vs. me and a newbie who didn't know ANYTHING and that game was on Knife Fight. I almost singlehandedly killed both you and playerap, and if it was on *any* map bigger than Knife Fight I probably *would* have single-handedly beaten both of you. LOL and no wonder Leeeto got mad at you for using lame, loserish tactics like Engineers. do you have any idea how peeved I was when Cowhades tried that on me(he was on TOP of the overall QM ladder on the month this game took place) in and he was playing me a rematch on Arged Desert, a map that heavily favors Ordos and Hark. I was ATR, he was Ordos, and I started to cream him, so he decided to use Engineers on me. They worked once and took a couple of buildings; which was incredibly annoying but ultimately all it accomplished was to incur my rage, and then I proceeded to continuously massacre all his frontal assaults so he tried to Engineer me the second time and that time it did *not* work. His APC was dead as soon as it touched ground. Engineers are lame and anyone who uses them should be flamed on WOL and flogged IRL and most ppl who need them suck at Emp. I ANNIHILIATED the number 1 QM player at the time, Cowhades on an Ordos map - that feat alone is nothing short of miraculous. Serves him right for using Engineers.

Of course, much of my uber ATR prowess is owed to Leeeto who provided me with the first WORKING BO that anyone on Emp ever provided me with even after I had been asking everyone else for MONTHS. He was the only guy who reached out to me with a SENSIBLE BO that actually WORKED! Even though other players who thought who they were soooooo much better than Duke_Leeeto always told me to use crappy, UNWORKING BO's, like Fac Ref.

Duke_Leeeto was the ultimate elite player.

ACE I can't believe you'd degrade someone like Duke_Leeeto, a guy who has always looked up to you and honored you, just because he got mad because he could never beat you. That shows that you are not a good person.

ACE, do you even realize that with both your Ordos Strat and your Hark Strat that you are virtually UNBEATABLE? Yes, it does go to your skill, but even so unless the person playing you can play like a MACHINE and use your own exact strat against you, his obliteration is INEVITABLE. You have developed and are proficient at all the totally un-counterable Strats in Emp. So it's not unreasonable for great, elite players like Duke_Leeeto to be frustrated with the fact that they can barely kill any of your units and you throw them around like a rag doll even though vs. almost *any* other player it would be impossible for them to be owned like that. It's a very shocking thing to have done to someone and the psychological effects can be daunting. You make elite players like me and Duke seem like a n00b, very few people can do that to elite players so it takes some adjusting to even realize what just happened after having played you in QM. I speak from firsthand experience of course and I'm sure that's exactly how Duke feels about this.

Nav, you are really amazing. You do know you have *never* beat me one on one in a match. You have faced me in team games and that is it. Even in the last team game I played against you, when you teamed with a very good player in gunwounds, we had you guys in trouble. In some of the other team games, YOU ONLY WON BECAUSE YOU WOULDN'T TEAM WITH ANYONE EXCEPT VERY GOOD PLAYERS. That means I would get the lesser skilled player.

I remember when kobratank, you, and I were in a room. He hated you and didn't want to team with you but you said he was the only one you would team with......despite the fact you made fun of his multi-nicking. Teaming with other people who are good doesn't make you good.

I'll tell you what Dukes problem was. Anytime someone gets upset like that in a GAME, especially when everyone is playing by the rules, then something is wrong. He was being an @ss.....I'm sure you can relate though huh =) That's why I say a guy like Desertway is a great guy.....he was good to play with and wasn't a jerk.

By the way, Engineers are a legit tactic....I don't use them now that I'm hark but when I'm atr or ordos, they are fair game. That is how you punish aggressive players. It is the players job to protect their base.......do you think they leave their bases undefended in Afghan.? Defense is as important as offense and I would think an atr player such as yourself would understand that.

Actually duke beat me once in an atr vs atr battle back in the day. My anti-atr style is very unorthodox (not the one I used on you, elite) and I use it fairly well so other unorthodox stuff won't work at all...all the people who've stopped my atr-killing strats have done so by using extremely ordinary strats...Nothing special, though I've yet to find someone to beat the combo of ink+spice camp, but several have come too close for comfort.

First, yes he did beat me as and it was fair, it was two days ago. You never have. Second, if you think you're better than him, then prove it. Play him.
