2003: The Judgement Year

Have you ever thought of the Judgement Day? Will it come? Will it not? How would it look like? Aliens invasion? War that changes the world to a lifeless rock? Thinking Machines enslaving all the humans? A secret society who enslaves people to do their bidding? Also: When will it happen? Next year? Next century? Next millenium? I've never thought much of it myself, but I do hope it will not happen in my life. Anyways, I've decided that the next year is to be celebrated for being the Judgement Year. Reasons:

1. Terminator 3: Rise of the Machines movie.

2. Matrix Reloaded and Revolutions.

3. Some weird talk about the 10th planet (Nibiru), flying by the Earth, causing MASSIVE destruction (!). I'll post some links if I find them.

So, these are the pitty reasons for a celebration? Yes. You must celebrate the Last Days of the Earth of course! How?:

on earth but im not affraid to die acctuly i cant wait to my

death i may sound crazy but back to what i sad... the sientists

also sad that till then there will be some kind of a weapon who

will destroy it :- i think

Theoreticly, you could alter a meteors trajectory by detonating nuclear missiles near it. I believe NASA and ESA were researching this possiblity.

Bigger then the sun? No asteroid is THAT big.

Off course a nuclear missile would not destroy an asteroid, but it would change its trajectory slightly, so it will not hit the Earth.

Ok, Judgement day by burning in a flame of fire and rock? Yep, that's what it'll be! ::) And please, if the end comes, it comes, it's just a coincidence that it is said to happen in the future, because that's kind of common sense that there is going to be an end sometime. If it happens in year 4210 people will shout Judgement Day ::) What do movies have to do with Judgement Day? And we haven't done it yet because we simply can't. The risks outweigh the cause, as a premature explosion, it failing to launch and blow us all to hell, many things can happen. When scientists and government officials are convinced an asteroid is coming it is then they will start to negotiate with countries all around the world to make a solution. And so begins a long and exhaustive operation.

guusr5644, I'm sorry to say this, but you should really read more about astronomy before posting about it... I mean, the "asteroid larger than the Sun" comment is more than extremely ridiculous... It's downright insane. :)

yeah same here. It's not that i can't wait to die, i mean i love life but i'm not afraid to die. As long as it isn't painful. If i die by some accident or an asteroid i will accept it, that's all

It WILL eventually happen. But you probably have a higher chance of slipping on some stairs and breaking your neck than dieing because of an asteroid... ::)

If it was that big of a deal, people would know about it. Scientists (for good reason) dont always trust the government with their findings and it would leak if there was absolutely 99.99999 blah blah blah danger.
