Gobalopper
Looks like it is a live stream instead of a typical trailer launch.

Khan
Looks good! I'm pretty pumped, just hoping there won't be massive delays...
Caid Ivik
not weird enough, needs more spice 😕
Andrew
Are the things on their hands the personal shields that make things look weird? I got worried a bit that they brought back weirding modules but then remembered about shields.
Gobalopper
Yeah, fairly certain those are the personal shields, definitely an improvement over the Lynch movie... I can't remember if they had them in the miniseries? What did you think of the sandworm design? I thought the harvester scene looked okay but still not sure what I think of the last one. Caid Ivik
the worm design is great, it reminds me of one famous illustration - https://cdn.onebauer.media/one/media/5d30/78f5/39e4/bc85/c544/bed9/dune-sandworms-schoenherr.jpg what are those floating crates? this seems to be some fetish motive of Villeneuve - https://youtu.be/n9xhJrPXop4?t=48 Atreides are Georgian? - https://youtu.be/n9xhJrPXop4?t=59 I also like the ornitopther, somewhat Dune 2-ish - https://youtu.be/n9xhJrPXop4?t=76 the white Sardaukar somewhat lacks intimidating flair of previous designs - https://youtu.be/n9xhJrPXop4?t=89 is that the baron? - https://youtu.be/n9xhJrPXop4?t=117
stefanhendriks
I'm looking forward to this movie. Didn't like the music in the trailer (even though I like the song from Pink Floyd, it didnt feel right in this trailer for me). Love the design of the sandworm (I also thought I had seen it before, @Caid Ivik found the picture, nice! ), also the scale is way better. All in all, the movie still feels a bit flat, as in the color palette is a bit grayish, but it could be just the style (no deal breaker anyway). Hope the baron Harkonnen is not a lunatic as in the David Lynch movie. I liked the baron in the miniseries better. Sardauker white... somehow I just want them to be purple 😉
Gobalopper
I think the floating crates are just the ships coming and going? They seem a little out of place. I do like the ornithopter design. I don't know if the miniseries Sardaukar were all that intimidating either. And yeah that was the Baron. This was Jodorowsky's take on the trailer: Quote “I saw the trailer. It’s very well done,” Jodorowsky said. “We can see that it is industrial cinema, that there is a lot of money, and that it was very expensive. But if it was very expensive, it must pay in proportion. And that is the problem: There [are] no surprises. The form is identical to what is done everywhere. The lighting, the acting, everything is predictable.” Jodorowsky continued, “Industrial cinema is incompatible with auteur cinema. For the former, money comes before. For the second, it’s the opposite, whatever the quality of a director, whether my friend Nicolas Winding Refn or Denis Villeneuve. Industrial cinema promotes entertainment, it is a show that is not intended to change humanity or society.”

Yeah I don't think it was a great fit, I just took it as a nod to Jodorowsky wanting Pink Floyd for his version.

A few characters have a fleeting similarity to Devanagari signs though. exatreide
Big back and forth on If it will be released in HBO max at all. Or just theaters. Personally I don't care either way, we got a big budget dune movie
Gobalopper
I think the latest is that it will only be in theatres and 45 days later it will debut on HBO Max. Not sure how that works outside of the US though.
Gobalopper
Actually scratch that, it will still be on HBO Max on release day:
