people have been asking and attempting to do this for the last 6 years.

Man history really does repeat itself.

But i know why you posted this.. cuz of what some of us were talking about online last night.

The deal is this... there is no hard ranking that will work.

Group Descriptions are the only things that work.   Like:

These groups go from worst to best in descending order....

1.) Newborn Nubs that just got the game

2.) Nubs that dont listen and have no potential

3.) Nubs that listen and have potential

4.) Players that are decent and worth doing a 3 vs 3 with....Players that dont build fast enough/ dont make enough units but try hard.

5.) Players that are decent and worth doing a 2 vs 2 with....Players that build fine but dont make enough subhouses or supers.

6.) Players that are veterans that build fine in all areas... but their attack timing is not the best.

7.) Players that are veterans that build fine, attack when the time is right, but dont use complex late game strategies and dont tech up. (i.e. they try to fight minos with dusties)

8.) Excellent Players that build fine, attack when the time is right, use good strategies, but make the mistake of using passive BO's in aggressive situations (being vulnerable to rush) or use aggressive BO's in passive situations (failed rush and falling behind).

9.) Same as 8 but they make fewer mistakes with starting BO types. (this to me is what most elites are)

10.) Perfect Player. (This is nobody since we all lose)   Builds every unit without losing a second, attacks when the time is right by helping allies and invading bases at the perfect time, uses multiple awesome early and late game strategies, and always uses passive money Bo's or aggressive rush BO's in the right situation.

So basically you have a scale of 1-10

Yea nobody is perfect all the time but I think a lot of us have had a few perfect games at times, or at least they seemed perfect.

Hmmm, After reading Gun's post I think I'm probably a 3 and on a REAL good night I might hit a 4. I am someone who studies the game and can SEE the potential, but I'm not good enough to exploit it. From my perspective the people that are on-line when I am, so you guys know who you are, are all 5 through 9's.

(lately I have seen a lot of niks in the who's on-line page that I don't know) But new blood is good.

However this brings up a interesting point about "Elites".

8.) Excellent Players that build fine, attack when the time is right, use good strategies, but make the mistake of using passive BO's in aggressive situations (being vulnerable to rush) or use aggressive BO's in passive situations (failed rush and falling behind).

Just suppose there was another server somewhere that we knew nothing about where people had been playing and getting as good as you guys. Now you find out about them and decide to play. Would you still be 9?  What percentage of being a 9 comes from knowing your enemy, Or enemy team, and how they play the various Houses?

Kind of like General Patton said in North Africa  as Rommel's tanks rolled up the valley in formation. "I read your damn book, Goebbels"

You're partly right there voodoo, a part of the difference between 8 and 9 is definitely knowing your enemy and whether they are rushers or money makers.

However, there are some things that can tip you off even if you dont know your enemy.

For instance.... fighting double ordos enemy you never seen before? Most likely a double rush coming... probably not best to go ref first  ;)  Best to take a more aggressive stance when starting your BO.

Secondly, fighting Hark/Atr enemy you know nothing about?  Most likely a drone rush and a ground assault from hark.  Money BO wouldnt be too dangerous here.  Especially on a far away rock.

That brings up another point.... distance.  If you have a far away rock... money BO is usually a good idea.... if your ally has the far away rock and you are surrounded by enemy (especially 2 ordos or ordos/hark)  then ref first or any passive BO (making harvs first) is probably a bad idea.

But i agree... like GI JOE says... "knowing is half the battle".  Although even if you dont know your enemy.... you can still notice the hints of their strategies by looking at their house combinations coupled with your base rock positions with your ally on the map.  So its not totally a roulette wheel if you dont know your enemy but it certainly helps.

Yea good point.. there have been times where i have had games where i even surprised myself at how good i played. It was like "OMG did i just do that?"  And alot of us have had games like that.  So yea i agree a rank of 10 isnt impossible... its just a temporary state under the right conditions.

Well i suppose we could all rate ourselves or even each other for the hell of it on the Gunswounds scale.  ;)

well I'd rate myself either a 4 or 5 (feel free to contradict)

there are days i have that qualify a doubletake on my mouse and a confirmation that i still have it in my hard and that i actually control it lol.. mostly after i get a bs 180 bot shot railgun hit thru some tiny hole just as u saw a pixel move behind it in some remote island out the middle of nowhere in some fps game...its usually there i hit record and screw things up completely  and my game goes to hell until i forget im even playing :P

in that case id rate myself a 9 to 10 lol only thing i usally do wrong is using the wrong BO's but i never really care what BO i use because  i never see it as competitive mtch , unless 4 of us play a few games and stick to the same teams and then you want to win

Don't get me wrong king.  You need to practice more even u are one of most develped skill guys.  Its really exaggeration u claim yourself 9 or 10 degree right? ;D

By the way, from now I stay away from this game for long.(some months I guess) While I do away, more practice and get be real elite. Then when I come back,I will be really happy to play real good game. :) cheers.

etc) Eidolon skill better than you in my objective spec. lol

Good point Pearl, I've beat King 1v1 2 out of 3 games playing all 3 houses. And by the way King, being an elite is something you cannot just claim yourself, but what others see you as.

Gunwounds,Pearlman,Mord,Jeff,Spaze,Harkdawg,Apo,Kalony...These are elites in my book anyway. Sorry if i missed a few but these just came to mind right away.

I don't doubt that you cannot play well, it's just not at an elite status. ;)

I agree that a ranking goes game by game. I don't beleive there to be a ten. I think its impossible to play PERFECTLY if you were to do that you'd have to be rated as a 20 lol. I do also agree that you can have amazing games, and play amazing; but, I don't think it means you played PERFECTLY. You jsut happened to woop some ass thats all =).

IMO there is more to being an Elite player than just winning a few 1vs1 or 2vs2.

To me an elite player knows all the best strategies and tactics, can always out manoeuvre or out produce their opponents. They can pull a win out of the ashes of defeat.

There are some great players out there but the truly Elite are the few greatest of the greats.

you know king, i want to give you an example for being an elite and thinking that you are elite.

i was 1 time on something like an mtv award show. there were a lot of musicians, who thought they r rockstars and are the best, coz they r in the papers sometimes, and they sell a few albums. but than, late at night, the door opens, and every head moved to the door, all eyes were wide open, and there was a big silence, coz guns`n roses enter the room. it was amazing. not that they sold that much more albums than others, or not that they make better music than others. it was just that theey came in as real rockstars. and everybody knew it. no talking about.

dont ask me because i dont know why but its like that and thats the way it is...

you r elite when everybody else but you think it.

you guys are saying being elite is being the same unless there are many different types of elite if this is not true then what is an elite, just a gay name for a good player lol none of you have a true definition for an ''elite'' player .

King you are by far the person whos the most farthest from an elite ive ever seen, you almost remind me of me when i was sixteen playing this game,,, but actually your worse, everyones said it, you cannot call yourself an elite, others must, i thought i was supreme ruler of the sands before i was schooled by emprworm, sardcore, gunwounds, skumomen, and doompower, get any one of those guys to call you an elite and then MAYBE i'll think twice before i challenge you or talk smack about you, until then keep buckling under my force little boy because you cant stop THE HARK RUSH!!!!! kkthxbai.

hey scar u beat me 2/3 with all 3 houses yea yea yea whered you make that story up lol  i woop you man

Yes, and I know you remember those games, well at least I do anyway. It was 1v1 on fishers, I was hark first and beat you, then ordos and beat you, then atr and you won that game. I'm not saying you can't ever beat me i'm saying your no elite by a long shot. And by the way, I suck at those 1v1's on fishers and i'll happily admit it. I enjoy teamplay and have always played that way.

then what is an elite, just a gay name for a good player lol none of you have a true definition for an ''elite'' player .

I think Gunwounds put it nice and clear...

I would like to add that a 10 ranked player can also play that well at any sets, map and cash amount also. Not just 10k fishers.

I could say,"hey I beat Gunwounds or Spaze" therefore i'm elite. Denial ain't just a river in Egypt dude. You played me 3 games I won 2 of them...so take your medicine and move on.

omg scar you completely suck at this game how the f u ck did u beat me 2 out of 3 games f u ck me! everytime weve played over the last few months ive won and you know it but id happily play you 5 games and we will see who the victor is lol all on fishers 10k since you seem to have beat me so many times b4 on those setts :)
