Hey all you programmers etc. isnt it possible to make a button to to queue something for unlimited times? For example i wouldnt want to click on sardaukar picture for 1000 times in a game, rather click once/or press certain button to queue it up unlimited and only stops when i want to.

unlimited times might be a fatal mistake in some cases e.g. if you have heavy battles and can't control everything simultaneously like moving troops, wathcing the spice production, keeping the defenses up and control your unit production.

but the idea itself is quite good. like I could rightclick on the picture and a small field will appear. now I can enter any number from 1 to.... maybe 99 or 999.

My guess is if it could have been done it would have, its something I think we would all find useful. But it seems all we can do is click on sards 1000 times. Lucky for you guys, Ill kill you before you click sards 300 times, so Ill save you 700 clicks...  8)

Its a legitimate mod request.  however, that would take away skill in my opinion.  Cuz... its hard sometimes to pay attention to unit queue and fight when someone is harassing you bad or when you are harassing someone.  Unlimited queue would just make the game easier.... and in this game the last thing we need is something to make it easier (well for those of us looking for the next competitive thrill).  Forgetting to queue your units and falling behind is part of tactics in my opinion.

True, how many times have you said, or heard the guys who have lost, say that the loss was becuase of the person forgetting to build units...?

I would say ocassionally. So yes, it is probabyl best to leave it as it is.

How many times do I hear that you dont like mods cause they dont work online - and then a topic comes along like this one!

There is no way that I know of to do as requested with the tools that we have available, it was the same with Dune2K where you could only click once to build and there was no queue system, it was not possible to fix that either.

However it is possible to change EBFD so that you can build more than one unit type from the Barracks or Factory at the same time, though this would require a Rules change and thus wont work online unless everyone had it...

I understand what you mean, I have ruined a few mice clicking to get units queued up fast over the past few years, but that is just as important as the build order, placement of buildings, scouting..etc.IMO. Anyone of these things done wrong or forgotten can cost you a game, so I would say it is needed just the way it is for balance. Although I have thought about having some sort of a clear queue type of fix before. What I mean is, say you have 99 of one inf. and suddenly need to undue all of that type for another fast...like a clear the 99 now button instead of clicking 99 times to undue the entire queue. But i'm used to speed clicking now anyway so doesen't really bother me much either way. As repetitive as it is to do, it does kinda force you to be precise in unit decision making.

interesting, so your saying you could make one click build a total number of units rather than just one?

No! That is impossible.

I could set the system so that you could build a ATR Trike at the same time as ATR Mongoose (not possible in std system), you would need to click them as now, but each unit would have its own build queue rather combined one so that one trike comes out of the factory at the same time as a mongoose (if they have similar build times).

It is not worth doing the mod though as no one would use it online and it reduces the skill in selecting ahead of attacks your build queue needed versus different build times of units. (Thats why I am not doing it in my Conflict mod).

In KKnD, you can queue units up to number 9, and clicking again will have that unit built to infinity - no limit. It's better than swinging it to 99 in Emperor.

In KKnD, you can also queue as many units as you want, though the more units you are queuing from a unit type (divided between Infantry and Vehicles, simply), the slower each unit construction will take place. Thus, training a scout and building a missile tank will not affect each other's building speeds, but building a missile tank and say a flame tank at the same time will cause their production speeds to be slower than usual, though marginally. The real slowdown comes if you queue like 6 vehicles at the same time. You can't build 2 missile tanks at the same time though.

And no, I'm using Emperor units as an example. There are no missile tanks in KKnD (unless you count the Barrage Craft and the Missile Crab, for that matter), nor scouts.

I have to agree with Gun. It does add an extra element too keep track of if you have to moniter your unit queues. I have also been on the bad end of that and forgotten to queue up units. It's definately a wake up when you go to select units and dont have any.

Hehe, yeah, although most people still lagging in this day and age means I only get caught out when we have fast players (players with fast connections and computers).
