Suicide. What are your thoughts on it?

In many countries, suicide is illegal (i'm still wondering why that would matter). Myself, i've attempted it. But then, if you commit sucidide, what happens? death is something i think about lots, and death by self as i call it is one of the things that occupies much of this time. i'm just looking for general thoughts. and please no "suicide is a sin and all who do it should burn in hell" posts.

Not if reincarnation is true. Rebirth is a possibility, and also consider the number of people who believe in going to paradise/heaven. To them death seems an escape.

In case of Lucretia was suicide a logical conclusion. In case of Socrates, it was purely logical. In case of Hitler extremely logical. There could be thousands of reasons, which make suicide a last resort of keeping personal freedom and dignity, not talking how great it is when it helps others. In fact, we can say that even God committed it...

No suicide is logical.  If you commit suicide then you have no chance to make changes in your life for the better, all chaces are lost. 

If you continue to live, then you will at least have the chance to make your life better, and be happy once again.

Also suicide effects others around you. It just seems kinda selfish in a way. Life can be a horrible thing at times, but like you said desert storm, things can always change for the better.

It just seems like a heavy burden to put on others.

I think suicide is the worst option. Like Earth said, this is our one shot. Why ruin it because things don't go your way sometimes? Sometimes it's very difficult to avoid thinking about suicide, and it's then that professional or familial help is required. Spread your love to everyone, and the world will be an easier place to live in for them.

In the end, you will die.  Period. 

So if you decide that you will accelerate to the end, and get it over with, why would that be illogical?  Your just reaching the final state early.

If she would remain alive, there would be lesser chance to punish Tarquinius Sextus. This was a perfect psychological act. There are many historians, which describe Lucretia as one of the first victims in fight for democracy, you know.

George Carlin destroyed any idea of reincarnation when he said There cant be any reincarnation... if reincarnation were true then you would have to have the world's population stay the same at all times since you are recycling the souls..... so there can be no new souls....as soon as one person dies one would have to be born....there was a time when we had only 2 humans on this earth and now we have 6 billion! ! ! .... WHERE ARE ALL THE EXTRA SOULS COMING FROM?

Not quite proof though is it? Just because souls are being recycled doesn't mean that more can't be added.

for the believers among us it would mean you would go to hell cus you distroyed god's greatest gift

reincarnation: by comitting suicide you do a very bad thing (same as above) you will be punished and get a lower form of live or a lower cast, because you did not learn te lesson you were supposd to

non-belivers: you just stop and away with the agony but what about all the ones you leave behind, your life was youre one shot at it, so many deserve to live and die anyway: who are you to throw that away very very selfish

If that's what yuo believe in, I believe that people come  back as people, no punishment involved.

I'm talking about the hindu( dunno if that is the right religeon) believe, it would be very easy to say, "hey this life does not work lets get the next one" life is not ment to be like that, life is uos and downs all you get from it, you have to get through it. Or are you just that weak?

Well I'm not weak, no. Obviously I'm not, I'm still here. But saying what life is is a bit foolish, since you can never know for sure. I'd Like to go in to more detail, and I will at home but I'm at work right now and the guy sitting behind me is getting really annoyed that I haven't done any work for the past 30 minutes. And besides, it's time for my 2 hour lunch break. ;)
