So it hasn't been woring good lately, down for 5 hours yesterday crashed over the weekend also, and it is currently down again.

Thought I would go to the windows update page, and what do you know, 10 new updates. One is specifically for msn messenger virus or something. I installed them all and it is still not working.

Another reason why messenger is not a very good service.

I'm using beta 7.

Any comments?

It kinda pisses me off, because I was going to use it for an assignment to communicate with group members instead of walking there at 10 at night.

Wow, the updates put a link on my desktop to http://messenger.msn.com/ without even asking me. Me thinks I now dislike it more.

Server Error in '/' Application.

Runtime Error

Description: An application error occurred on the server. The current custom error settings for this application prevent the details of the application error from being viewed remotely (for security reasons). It could, however, be viewed by browsers running on the local server machine.

Details: To enable the details of this specific error message to be viewable on remote machines, please create a <customErrors> tag within a "web.config" configuration file located in the root directory of the current web application. This <customErrors> tag should then have its "mode" attribute set to "Off".

<!-- Web.Config Configuration File -->

<configuration>

    <system.web>

        <customErrors mode="Off"/>

    </system.web>

</configuration>

Notes: The current error page you are seeing can be replaced by a custom error page by modifying the "defaultRedirect" attribute of the application's <customErrors> configuration tag to point to a custom error page URL.

<!-- Web.Config Configuration File -->

<configuration>

    <system.web>

        <customErrors mode="RemoteOnly" defaultRedirect="mycustompage.htm"/>

    </system.web>

</configuration>

Is what shows up when I click on the Check the .NET Messenger Service status.

Hell, it shows me that when I click on any link from that website.

Getting exactly the same problems here. Would appreciate it if someone more able than I were to find a way around this, before my sister lobotomises me with a ferret. Is becoming most irksome.

Ummm, if you can, use messnger that comes with Windows, it seems unaffected, but requires WinXP.

Also, for me the service status page doesnt work !!!

It's back up (for now); but I found that Windows Messenger didn't work either.

On the subject of brain surgery performed with small, cute, fluffy mammals, I don't think I'll be in any position to film the process. Sorry.

Hmm, tis working for some and not for others, this time I am part of the "some" :P.

But windoes messenger hasnt gone down for me when msn has (strange, but when it does go down msn will not log in but winmsgr does).

I was using the BETA months ago..... downgraded due to security issues associated with the "wink" function. I've got a few vindictive friends that would just love to exploit it somehow :P.

When Microsoft officially released the BETA, I didn't bother getting it, why sacrifice stability for some fairly trivial features.....
