The BBC ran a documentary on the BNP (British National Party) yesterday night, which exposed a lot of the unknown internal activity of the party and confirmed fears that the BNP is essentially a neo-fascist group. The documentary was the result of 6 months of undercover work by a BBC journalist:

I was wondering if anyone here saw the documentary. British political life seems to have gone up in flames in recent years, with both Labour and the Tories suffering massive losses at the hands of various rising minor parties.

The European elections this June were the first time in British history when the two major parties managed to get a combined vote of only 50% in a national election:

Labour: 23% - worst result since 1910

Conservatives: 27% - worst result since 1832

Unfortunetaly, this has done very little to improve British politics. The rising third parties don't really bring anything new. They're either "more labour than labour" or "more conservative than the tories". Also, the BNP neo-fascists got their best ever election result: 5%

I am pro UKIP, but I do not like the BNP. I did not see the Documentary, but I do know that it is pretty common knowledge here that the BNP are a racist organization, with very close links to the NF (National Front), a racist 'gang type thing. In the past they have been compared to Sinn Fein(Sp?)/IRA and The nazi Party/The SA, so they are the best comparisons you could use.

EDIT:

Ok, make your case then.

Even though this wasn't aimed at me I feel kind of obliged to answer. UKIP tricked me with a Fantastic advertising campaign the included KILROY!!  Also I want to be out of Europe, their chief policy.

Heh, the whole point of the documentary was that the term "racist" is a vast understatement. Some BNP members are full-blown nazis, not merely racists.

Also I want to be out of Europe, their chief policy.

The problem is that their chief policy isn't their only policy. They want to be out of Europe, but what else do they want? What would a UKIP government do, besides leaving the EU?

From what I've read on their website and elsewhere, they're taking an extreme right-wing conservative stance on everything. They don't represent the interests of the British people - they represent the interests of British businessmen and British corporations who want less competition from European businessmen and corporations.

The UKIP is essentially a trojan horse.

Yeah that's why I said that there is a strong comparison between them and the Nazi party before they got into power.

Are you saying you fell victim to cheap propaganda? You should be ashamed of yourself! :P

The BNP is possibly one of the worst things ever to happen to British politics, closely followed by Tony Blair's Americaphilia and UKIP. The first is just racism in a suit and tie (sometimes) and the third thinks we're an island geographically located near Hawaii as opposed to France. Hello? Geography, people, we're in Europe! Kilroy is just a wrinkled old sod who, like most wrinkled old sods, is taking out his grievnces (sp?) on the group of people of his choice. Namely the Europeans.

As for the second, well... look where that got us...

EDIT: Robert Kilroy-Silk is an aging ex-TV presenter who was fired for making racist remarks about Arabs. He presented a chat show and is now a figurehead of UKIP, the UK Independance Party.

I support the labour party, and I will always support them, but I also support some of the beliefs of the BNP, I only saw highlights of the BBC report last night, and saw nothing wrong with a representative of a  democratically elected political party, using there right to free speech in a democratic country, no one seemed to mind when Muslim clerics in England, where inciting (so called) English Muslims to kill English soldiers in Afghanistan and Iraq, or when (so called) English Muslims where praising, the 9/11 bombers for killing English people. If these Muslims weren

We have many similar groups in America, so it's not like we can condemn Britain for such an atrocious group.  Still, reading about groups such as this, be they any nationality, makes me shudder.

If I was old enough I'd vote for Conservative in the General Elections.  I'm not sure about European Elections because UKIP and Tories are splitting the anti-EU vote.

I would vote for the BNP because immigration is destroying our country, and if trends continue, the white englishman will be a minority in his own country.

That's the most ridiculous statement I've ever heard. The only way that would happen is if we built houses on every square foot of the country, and no white people never had babies again. Think before you post please.

Even assuming that's true, there is a big difference between being anti-immigration and being a violent nazi fanatic. The BNP are the latter.

"What do we owe the Arabs"

1. The fact that they preserved the ancient culture of Greece and Rome while Europe devolved into a bunch of illiterate barbarians mindlessly slaughtering each other, during the Dark Ages.

2. The fact that they invented the numbers we're using today (why do you think they're called "arab numerals"?).

3. The fact that arab mathematicians laid the foundations of algebra.

And that was just off the top of my head.

If you have anti-immigration views, thn prehaps you should go with Labour.

Their Home Secretary (David Blunkett) is becoming more right-winged by the second, cracking down on immigration as it is I believe, and things will only get tougher...

Edrics hit the nail on the head there, you don't have to vote BNP because you don't agree with the high numbers of asylum seekers.....

Back to the topic, I watched part of the documentary and was completely shocked by some of the comments made and I could not see myself getting along with anyone who agrees with their values.

I like Tony Blair, I also like Michael Howard.  However, TB time is now up and power should change.  If the coservatives hadnt messed up so bad, they could be in power.  Alas, I will be boting for SNP though.  C'mon the Scottish Independence!

yet they then stopped advancing and started to go backwards while europe surged forward and created the verything that keeps them alive, the automobile.

The only thing is that he published the article twice, before 9/11, he did it and got no complaints, then he did it after 9/11 and got complaints. :O  But he made up for it by saying it wasn't Arabs on their own that were bad, just arab states...

yet they then stopped advancing and started to go backwards...

That might have had something to do with the fact that they were all conquered by European colonial powers...
