IT'S UP!

No spoilers whatsoever, although I have to disagree with the reasoning behind why the people who ahve sene it thought it sucked. They all say it's "Because they stripped the legend away, leaving nothing interesting". Bull ****. It sucks (I haven't seen it, I just suspect it sucks) because it is a Bruickheimer produced pg-13 sell out flick. Has he ever amde a non-sell out flick? Anyone?

Oh well, on to the short and spoiler-free review.

Harry

Im sure you will get a buttload of these reviews... but here goes. Tonight there was a screening for King Arthur at the Motion Picture Academy of Arts and Sciences building in LA. Jerry Bruckheimer intoduced the film and said it was now the final cut. They had just finished locking the picture last night... so they said. The score was done and you couldnt tell anything visually was missing... all that really was missing was a good story.

You know how this movie is sort of being sold on being the "real" story of Arthur and his Knights? Well, imagine if you took the legend - stripped away anything good about it and all you had left with was a bunch of mopey britts bitching about freedom in a very pale Braveheart attempt.

It really is just not worth going into any detail at all about the story... because it was mostly non exsistant. The effects were terrible, the battle scenes were horribly shot and directed... there really was nothing good about the film at all. The audience I was with did clap when the bad guys got killed... but i just clapped when it was over... i clapped because it was over... not because it was a good movie...

Nothing really can save this film. It was a horrible movie. I much prefer the legend to the "real" story....

If you end up using this.... call me.... Mr Bootles...

wow.. an interesting title indeed... just like the 'how long' thread. Is there a secret message behind this you want to share with us Mahdi?

I saw some reviews that they did the same with the movie "Troy"

Normally it was a (very) good story, but they ripped all good out of it.

I like the Arthur Legends, and I surely won't change my opinion of seeing that movie from "not see" to "going to see" now...

Who cares about the legend behind it? That's been in the movies for decades. Time for some realistic theater!

This movie is no more realistic than Excalibur, it just has the gall to say it is.

No he isn't.  Khan is right, that is in fact the movies tagline, which is why I'm so inclined to hate it.  Bruickheimers given us some serious BS before but this...  WORST MARKETING CAMPAING EVER!.

I dunno if I can seperate the whole "Truth behind the legend" (WHICH IT IS NOT) thing from the actual film.

Worse part is, that's what's gonna get the few people who are gonna go see it into theaters....

I totally agree with you mahdi. I dont know lots about the arthur legend, but I have read the Crystal Cave series, and I must say they are awesome (some better than others). I have also heard they are an extremely interesting take on the legend. I have read a bit on the original legends and from what I see it just looks like crap.

Haha, I hear that everytime a commercial for KA aired during the history channels special they had "Sound problems" whenever the "The truth behind the legend" tagline was said.  Can anyone confirm this?

Haha, that's hilarious.  And understandable, if the film is as weak as it seems.  I saw the trailer a few days ago.  It just looks to me like another excuse to make use of that computer program that makes the CGI armies, like they used in Lord of the Rings and Troy.

Personally, one of my favourite King Arthur-related stories was Merlin, starring Sam Neil and Martin Short.  King Arthur was more of a sidetrack, yes, but I thought it was very well done.  I'm not as knowledgable in the legends themselves, so I can't say how accurate it was or anything.  But I really enjoyed it.

Merlin wasn't hsitorically accurate at all, but it didn't claim to be so it is completely forgiven for that.

It was a very entertaining miniseries.  Although the version they showed on TV was much better thant he version on video.  Each has secens that the other didn't, and the video version is relaly missing something without those tv scenes.

It aired on sci-fi lately.

Which is also airing the movie "Decoys" which featured my school.  And maybe me in the background, I dunno.

I will see it for 10 reasons:

1. kiera knightly

s2. kiera knightley's face

3. kiera knightley's hair

4. kiera knightley's legs

5. kiera knightley's ass

6. kiera knightley's abs

7. kiera knightley

8. kiera knightley

9. kiera knightley

10. Good action scenes

edit:made it a better list

Have to give Keira Knightly credit, she's about the only one who is refusing to tow the line on the whole King Arthur "The truth behind the legend" tagline.  Which is really surprising since she's Bruickheimer's golden girl.

During filming she was the only one who was saying "It's true like Gladiator was true. They tried to make semi-realistic costumes, and that's about it" and she just finished an interview with Letterman without once saying "The truth behind the legend".  She actually went out of her way to point out a couple of inaccuracies in the thirty second clip they showed of the film (which looked relaly shitty for a battle scene, I just hope it was edited for content so it could be shown on Letterman).
