Make Cuba the 51st state so we can open resorts and casinos wasn't that what it was before Fidel Castro took over.:) Seroiusly it's mainly military ditatorships with most of these so-called communistic countries. Dictators are blood suckers who are not even true leaders ask them where their public health plans, city and state government plans, trash collection plans, public education plans, econmic welfare plans are etc., etc. they can't tell you cause they do not have any of thoses plans. A government can not stand without being first of all a government! And communism is no government that just can't work. And these dictators do nothing but line their pockets while the common man is trying hopelessly to find a next meal.

Is an interesting point of view Tobias i never have think about it before but the rank in Star Trek is against communism.

the rank is against communism? i can't

understand what your saying. Rank does not

go against the idea of communism

Actually in some parts of Cuba it isn't half bad. Its government does occasionally help people if they are not anti government or Christian. I've seen slides of Cuba after my minister went there. Yes atrocities are committed there but also occasionally good things happen.

We see what the government allows the media to show and tell us. The 1st ammendment isn't what it used to be. (Note last comment targeted at the US. Yes I am a citizen of the US before you bash me about not being one.)

"Occasionally good things happen"

I'm sure Castro is working hard to find a way of stopping those accidents. ;)

Shaddam, I don't know anything about Ceausescu's taxes. That's because taxes weren't a big problem. We had enough money, but nothing to spend it on. You see, Ceausescu started by making some huge projects, like the "People's House", a huge building, actually the second-largest in the world, after the Pentagon. It was supposed to house the Parliament, the Government, most ministeries and a large bureaucracy. It was completed on the outside, but the inside was only about half done by 1989. Ceausescu also tore down nearly half of Bucharest and replaced the houses with apartment blocks (forcing people to move). All these things created a huge external debt. Then (in the early 1980s) he had the stupid idea of paying the whole debt in about 15 years. From then on, the vast majority of Romanian products (including basic stuff like food) were sent to export, in order to make money for paying the debt. And since imports were almost banned, there was barely anything left to buy, no matter where you went. Even food was scarce. This lasted for nearly a decade, until the 1989 revolution. Other "features" of Ceausescu's regime include having only 2 hours of TV transmissions each day and having hot running water only a few hours a day.

And that's what people think about when they hear about "communism". It's actually stalinism, but who cares?

I have no problem with a country with a rank

system, nor the rank system there is in ST.

The problem i have is when the people at the

top earns more than the people at the bottom.

Everyone is equal, in the essence that

everyone is doing their part for sociaty, not

that there isn't rank.

Yes but the reason the people higher in rank get more money is because they earned it and most likely have more experience and training. This is almost just like the military, a Lieutenant Colonel (O-5) would get more than a 2nd Lieutenant (O-1) because he/she would have more experience, etc. But if people could get higher in rank without doing as much as the other person, then that is when it turns around.

Big hello to every1 here, i've just joined. I want to agree with Edric O, he is talking right way. I come from Poland, and we have also some expierience, with what u call "communism". It is bad, it is perfect system for the people of low faith, badly educated and for those who dont care about simple rules. On the level of poeple it is hell, consumption is reduced to minimum to afford and maintain the bureaucracy, army and gov. In every country with that system, the "communism" worked difrently, but in all places has one in common - this is a despotism, no democracy at all.

communism is a dream.......thats all it is......where everyone helps everyone and there litelallyy no hate.......pretty much kinda like the borg thats communism......perfection!! :)

Posted

The Borgs weren't perfect, because if they were then how were they captured and killed by StarFleet? StarFleet even rescued their Jean Luc from the Borg, so I wouldn't call them perfect. And communism isn't perfect due to human nature someone is bound to mess things up.

Posted

No offense but I think it is in everything's nature to mess up. A predator does not always get prey and the prey does not escape all the time either. A crop can be bountiful or next to nothing compared to how the farmer takes care of it. A white blood cell cannot always take out a virus and in the case of AIDS it produces it after being infected. Politicians can be right on rare occasions, but on others are wrong. An herbivore may eat plants but may accidently eat the bug on the plant. A wolf pack may hunt but in times of hunger may scavenge. Food may be cooked perfectly or be so hard you can chip a tooth.

That was just my all things are not perfect tirade. No the Borg are not perfect...they just strive for perfection. Even we humans strive for perfection, because perfection is something that our nature drives us to. Some more than others and they are called "perfectionists."

This off topic but who here hates us american pigs? who please tell me because if u do......ok.

did u know the us almost became a communistnation ? yeah I think a politition wanted it and THANK GOD HIS IDEA OF MAKING THE US A COMMUNIST COUNTRY DIDN'T GO um... and tobias where do u live and does this influence your likes in communism???

Posted

Yeah Edric. Trh5000, what you would be suggesting by calling your own country pigs would be treason and punishable by death in most "communist" countries. I put communist in quotations because like everyone is saying, true communism does not exist.

nonresearched guess : China, North Korea, Vietnam, Cuba, and um, Cambodia? (only communist in name, probably)- better word "dictatorship," or oligarchies.

By the way; what exactly is a Technocracy?
