today I was doing my homework, working diligently when my friend IMs me the link to the decapitation of Nick Berg, of course I refuse to even click the link. Then this one person from my school asks for the damn link. My major qualm with this is; "has our society degraded it's self to the point that we view a man's execution as entertainment?"

give the damn man some respect!

people have watched exucutions for thousands of years, saying were degrading by watching it is not really true..

Not watching it strange when you think people watched them for thousands of years, only in the past 40 years have people stopped watcing them(lynchings in the south were a big spectical for awhile)

The human facisation with death cant be denined.

I know that public executions were popular in ancient rome, Medieval Europe and the south but our society has "reformed" and "advanced" yet we still enjoy such barbaric acts.

its like a car wreck.... if you drive by one you cant help but look right?

its like a reflex.... sometimes you cant help it.

Conversely, and somewhat paradoxically, it's arguably when people stop looking at car wrecks when there's a problem with society.

I watched Berg's beheading yesterday, but not out of entertainment.  There was so much conflicting information I needed to see for myself.  Trust me, you made the good decision not clicking the link!

People are curious, curiosity is one of the most powerful forces ever.....They dont have to find it entertaining to want to see it......

I had not seen it until a few days ago and I had "wanted" to see it for awhile. Now that I have seen it I feel my curiosity is contented and I feel more informed on the situation...

Just as Gunwounds says, at a car crash you have to stop and watch the flames....

Curiosity, entertainment, morbid fascination... whatever reasons you have for it you cannot deny that people will have a desire to see these things. It is... heh heh... human nature.

anything marked as taboo will alway fascinate humans.

such as when alcohol was banned in USA... made it that much more intriguing.

if tommorrow the USA put a bann on bunny slippers.... people would make underground smuggling operations to get them.

Watching it for pespective can be excused, for entertainment, no.

If we can gain something producted from his death, it is perhaps better than trying to ignore it. Bit if we do watch it, we must watch it with respectful demeanour.

again some of the people in here have VERY lame reasons for watching it and brush it away like it's simply ok and not a big matter, you should fucking be put in an institution where you could be taken care of.

What's so great about reality? And I know it's a shame and everything but in the scheme of things this isn't really a big deal.

if the normal thing to do is to act like this is a fucking movie then YES.

If people can just sit and say this is no biggie, and I watched it because I've never seen a beheading before, then we haven't evolved JACK FUCKING SHIT since the middleages, and then we aren't better than the people doing these acts.

BUT THIS FUCKING VIDEO IS REALITY AND IT MAKES ME SICK, AS DOES THE PEOPLE WHO ACTS LIKE IT'S ALL HANKY DANKY. BUT THEN AGAIN IT'S NOT YOUR SON SO WHY THE HELL SHOULD YOU CARE, YOU ARE ENTERTAINED YOU FREAKS

I doubt that. . . if so I want this video to go away.

Many things aren't reality before you see them...

If you lived in a little cell, reality would be different than if you were living normally...

Do you get my point?
