i ended up setting it at 1476...rather than 1492 or 1454...it seemed to worked slightly better than the other 2 settings...

So what value should you be shooting for if you have a broadband connection?  I have fast cable, so shouldn't the value I use be different than what a 56ker would use?

Wenn i open new i have to choose from 3 values, they are in dutch, could some dutch tell me wich one is string value?

These are the 3 i get:

tekenreekswaarde

Binaire waarde

DWORD_waarde

i actually ended up changing mine again to 1484 and now there's a definite difference...still pretty slow...but what can you expect from 28.8k dial up?...lol ;D

Tip:

Use google and search with:

[iSP]+MTU

Where [iSP] is the placeholder for your real ISP's name.

You will then find pages showing you the optimal MTU value for your ISP.

Mine (Nextgentel) is 1478.

When I change the MTU to this value, I get about 18-30 more kilobits per second.

this will tell you your optimal MTU:

;D

mine ended up being 1500...no wonder it wasn't helping me becuz this is the default for most modems...lol

dozy set his to 1454 and he said that he noticed a big difference...much faster

it's differerent for different computers

i type exactly what they said, i even copy and paste and it still gives be bad paremeter... what now?

could you make a windows shot [ sort of a screenshot but then smaller. ..you can make it with alt-printscreen and then just past that in Paint ] of the command you have typed in and the result ?

Ok now this, this is what really made my internet go into the speed of light:

First, go to your registry editor by pressing "Start", "Run", and then type "REGEDIT.EXE" (without the "), now, go exactly to this place: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESystemCurrentControlSetServicesVxDMSTCP

and look for "DefaultRcvWindow", if you dont have one, create one. (DWORD value) then, set the value to 32767, this had made my internet alot faster, i hope it will help you guys..

lol... well it just says "Bad Parameter 1492"... thats it nothing more... i really cant see why do you need a screenshot when im telling you the obvious...

Posted

I asked for the screenshot because the error bad parameter 1492 will be displayed if you make a typo. . . with the screeny I could have easaly seen what the type was. . .now I have to guess you forgot the -l or made another typo before the value 1492. . ..
