Anybody watching this amazing miniseries on SciFi (same channel that made Children of Dune!)? I've watched quite a few of the original series, and I'm loving this new miniseries. The second installation is airing now in EST, and it is very incredible. Anybody?

I'm too busy this week to watch it and couldn't because my stupid cable provider switched channel #s so what was sci-fi is now lifetime >:( but I found the sci-fi channel today so it's cool.

well of course the space battles are better! lol Special effects has improved. Frankly I like the designs of the original series, much more original. I also like the actors and plot a bit better. I mean this new series is great, but I am soft for classics, and you cant just give up the original. I also dont like the idea of removing starbuck as a guy and changing the character to a girl. It was a good two episodes though. The neat thing is this new series is actually taking a lot of info from the book Battlestar Galactica, and so you never know, it might just be better than the original version in my opinion. Not now though for me, just how I see it.

Ron Moore has said it depends on what sci-fi thought of the ratings. Seeing as the ratings were impressive, there will probably be an announcement soon.

"nobody copies lucas! the only thing I do is take bits and pieces from everything in sci fi I see and then put it all together again without a touch of creativity! how dare them..."

As you can tell, lucas isnt a wonderful person in my eyes. I also hate how he keeps producing more and more box sets of movies and new versions of dvds for things his company made, without actually getting to the comprehensive dvd and video sets people want. he really really likes the money.

Lucas also seems to drag anyone to court who does as much as use the words 'Star Wars'. People who design Custom Star Wars mods for various games (examples were the modules made for Battlefield 1942 and Homeworld) are usually threatened with law suits and ordered to remove the content.

yes, and all his movies directing wise are, are akira kirosawa films, with less taste.lol I mean the screen wipes, the movement of cameras, it is just a huge copy of that great director, who made wonderful films god bless him.

Yes, well, I think that, overall, the story that Lucas wrote is excellent. I don't think his directing skill is good. Episodes I, II and IV are rubbish compared to Episodes V and VI (V and VI weren't directed by Lucas). What makes Episodes V and VI especially brilliant is the script-writing (we have Mr. Kasdan to thank for that) and special effects. I still think Star Wars overall is one of the best sci-fi movie series ever; if not, the best.

Back to Battlestar Galactica: I've never seen it. What's it about? (There's an advert for some of the episodes on my dad's Dune VHS.)
