One fic to unite them all, one fic to be any person, any occupation, one fic to rule...

(Rather long pre-rule story)

The American space fleet consisted of four Grade-A battle cruisers, a flagship for the Premier, ten destroyers and several dozen cruisers. They had activated hyper-drive a few hours ago and were speeding towards one of the numerous American colonies located on a rock giant located two galaxies past the bring of the Earth solar system.

All of the ships looked almost box-like and were armed with hundreds upon hundreds of laser cannons and bullet-fed weaponry. Though laser-based weapons had been used for several hundred years they were still quite unpredictable and unreliable which led to mass armaments of projectile weaponry. Not like it especially mattered, the Americans could test out different military concepts without threat; there were no competitors. Russia had fallen due to war after war trying to bring back the Communistic govern, and the Chinese had fallen to the same but for the battle of Democracy.

“Commander, we’re currently passing planet X, from what the projections are informing me on we are currently about six months away from our destination.” Though the final planet in the Earth solar system had been located and confirmed long ago no one really ever considered a name past its original “X” concept, and there were no plans to start.

“Are there any small or large technical issues on any of the fleet ships?” Spoke Norton, stretching slightly. The Premier was held as one of the greatest military Commanders of all time, personally leading the Battle of Armageddon; the last battle to test the American militaristic power with a large militia of any form.

“None that we can speak of sir, though the men on the Titan are complaining that their cook can’t make a decent breakfast.” Spoke the navigational director: John C. Williams. All the men in the cabin chuckled slightly, even the Premier.

“Not that they could ever make a decent waffle, Hell, I even went back there for a day when I was in the Corps and cooked up better shit then that.” Norton spoke, smiling slightly.

A few hours had passed and Norton was about to head back to his quarters and get some rest. The real issue was that the boys back at Washington always wanted their space-born soldiers to be paying attention, which led to complete boredom outside the job.

“Hmm, that’s odd…” Spoke Williams gazing down at his screen questionably.

Norton got out of his day dream about his family back home, Laura his wife was about to have their third child and he hated the fact that he couldn’t be there.

“What is it Williams?” Spoke Norton gazing down at his panel from afar: it didn’t matter; even close Norton wouldn’t be able to decipher all the complex coding and systems.

“Well, we’re picking up several energy signals that are sitting still 1,000 miles ahead…” Spoke the man, trailing off slightly.

“Enemy ships?” Spoke Norton. But who has the ships besides us to be out this far?

“Doesn’t look like anything we have at least…” Now all the crew was gazing down at their boards trying to dish out any more information.

“Give visual”, a few seconds after the Premier said this the screens in the Command room lit up.

Everyone was taken back in shock for what they saw was inhuman. There were several thousand ships before them but the real issue was they didn’t look like anything human. They used unfamiliar and odd shapes to construct the ships, mainly ovals and twisted lines. The exteriors consisted of an eerie green and blue.

“Dear God…” Muttered Norton, his crew were the first to ever witness an alien species, the myths were finally a reality.

“Deploy some form of communication to signal we mean peace, and to welcome to our sys-“ Norton was cut off as his flagship shook.

“They fired upon us!” Yelled the crew.

“Doesn’t look like they mean peace, Commander.” Spoke Williams, gazing upon the enemy fleet in complete shock.

“Activate the shields, fire back!” Screamed Norton as another blast hit the ship, one of the cruisers lit up and was destroyed instantly.

The battle lasted for many hours but the final weapon used by the alien creatures annihilated the human exploration group, and they proceeded towards Earth.

Instant communication through the stars was not created and humanity did not expect the alien fleet as they appeared over Earth – deploying their weapons of mass destruction. There was nothing the planetary defense could do quick enough to retaliate and in 30 seconds the heat destroyed every single organism on the face of the planet and the initial blast shattered the cores barriers. Four minutes after the barrage the core fell apart, instantly destroying Earth. The birthplace of humanity was back to as it started: a few pieces of rock, lingering around.

In response the population on the colonies screamed for American retaliation. Taking no time the full American militia was deployed and soon the battle was raged for Mars. After many tense conflicts the American fleets pushed the first Alien fleet, and all of the reinforcing ones out of their solar system and immediately went on the offensive.

A 45 year war raged on, but in the end the American Empire was just to powerful for the enemies to handle, and their planet was decimated just like the human counterpart.

Though the American forces had won, the loses and money involved crumbled their economy, and they fell. Every Empire has its rise and fall, and the American fall was defending humanity, it was laid down in History as the most honorable force ever known to man.

Now, 3,000 years later humanity lies in unguided ruins. Individuals with hordes of riches grab large ships and go off to colonize their own worlds. Nothing remains of the American forces except their memory and a new Gold Rush has begun, but this time to the various planets. The U.U.N(United Universal Nations) was formed, as some meeting place for the growing and unadvised planets.

Governments have begun to form off the previous ruins of the Earth-based nations. In the chaos of the rush, will you be left behind, or bring upon a new Empire to stretch across space and rule them all? You decide.

 *Rules*

What you can be:

Well, here’s the beauty of this thread, you can be a ruler of a new world, one of a largely populated one, a space pirate lurking off House ships, a military commander, pretty much anything you can imagine as long as its human.

Thread:

1.  NO instant communication, period, space = long distances = messages take time.

2.  No “I already know”, meaning if I launch my fleet at you in one post the next post you reply “well the Atreides prepared for the Harkonnen attack”, how the Hell did you even know I was attacking you? Explain it.

3.  NO God Modding, I will NOT tolerate it, and I will NOT be favorable/unfavorable to ANYONE who does it.

4.  No biological, chemical, nuclear, hydrogen etc, weapons of mass destruction, in fact…No WMD all together, including EMP. (People really, I mean if I allowed EMP it’d be just whoever shot the first EMP wave that won the battle…BORING)

5.  No alien, ANYTHING until when/if I say so.

6.  No one post battles.

7.  No instant travel, ships take a long time to move planet to planet.

8.  No one post builds. Especially with battle cruisers, I don’t give a shit how many planets you have, battle ships are Star War size, so like Hell I’m going to see them built in two posts.

9.  No killing another characters player without consent.

10.  Enjoy the thread.

Civilization: Ya'Gfeth Interdrites

Population: 1,350,000

World: A planet called Ut'Giri'Ayan. Most bases are underground, with machines doing things like harvesting and farming aboveground.

Ruler: Isge'threl

Military Power:

3 Cruisers, one is the Flagship

9 Destroyer Ships

17 corvettes

39 frigates

1 Carrier B (explained later)

950 Fighters, 100 Bombers

145,000 People capable of fighting

700 dropships

The Ya'Gfeth Interdrites are more advanced, focusing on technology. The Carrier B is the size of 5 carriers but can break apart into several smaller ships, each the size of a cruiser, if attacked. The Fighter planes can be equipped with small bombs. The Dropships can carry up to 300 people each.

We are still neutral. Currently we are just a peaceful people seeking to expand their knowledge and maybe get richer in the process. If attacked we fight viciously.

Civilization: Galrondites

population 1,700,000 (military) 6,000,000 Civillian

colony: Small Planet of Galrond

Civilization is ruled by the premier Karoq Narond

We are currently unallied with anyone, but we want to be a decent military/economic force in the future. We have a decent military force, but we mostly try to focus on stealth and sneaky tactics. Our current military force is comprised of: 1 space station, 2 carriers, 3 battleships, 20 destroyers, 40 corvettes, 20 stealth corvettes, 100 fighters, 75 stealth fighters, 100 Stealh bombers, and 60 transport ships. We also have an intersteller marine corps or about 20,000 people, but no real army.

We are currently very low on funds, and we do not have enough money to get fuel for very many of our ships right now, so we are not a huge offencive threat, yet.

When I say stealth, I mean the same general kind of stealth that is currently on US B-1 and F-117 bombers: The stealth is not completely undetectable, but it is much harder to detect. If the stealth stuff does not fit well with the game, tell me and ill change it.

World: Szithusar Har'oloth.

People: Ilythiiri.

Population: Unknown.

Leader: Also unknown.

Szithusar Har'oloth, in the colonial days known as 'DE666,' is not in fact a planet, it is a moon orbiting a large Venus-like planet, Elghinn. Elghinn is one of the furthest worlds ever reached by the old colonies. At the fall, it was barely an outpost. The inhabitants were forced to evacuate soon after the fall though, due to volcanic activity. They settled on Szithusar Har'oloth.

It is a dark and inhospitable world, comparitively far from it's sun. It spends 3/4 of it's 'day' (which is 30 old Earth hours long) in perpetual and complete darkness, and the rest in blinding light. As a result the inhabitants took to living underground, only emerging during the dark hours. Deaths were high at the time due to internal warfare and animal predators, and thus doe to natural selection the survivors evolved (aided by high levels of radiation from the unstable Elghinn) nocturnal vision based on infra-red, and now loathe visible light.

Due to radiation poisoning over successive generations (as well as inbreeding) the Ilythiiri have dark skin and hair, and their eyes have no whites, being all black to see in the dark. They are also resistant (not immune) to radiation.

The Ilythiiri do have a leader, and she is female. Her name, however, is unknown, as is her location. Due to constant internal strife (warfare is still common) many who swear alliegence to her fight for different factions.

They are not technologically advanced, having had little at the time of the fall, but have learned to work with the many non-sentient creatures near and on their world to get by. They have no gun-like weapons and few ships.

Currently allied to no faction. Still too busy beating each other up.

[is that ok Ghosthunter? I IM'ed you about the slight 'evolution' of the people, but the reply wasn't altogether clear...]

The Holy Roman Empire

About 160 years ago a series of rebellions occured on the planet Trabius, started by Roman catholic zealots. They were succesful in overthrowing the old regime and their leaders handed over all sovergnty over to the Pope, thus unifying all spiritual and secular authority in one man, greatly adding to the stability of the now reinstated Holy Roman Empire.

Most factions try to stay on good terms with the Papacy because Roman catholicism still has followers everywhere, who all see the Pope as their spiritual leader.

population: 1,5 billion

Fleet

3 cruisers

12 destroyers

5 fighter carriers (20 fighters each)

Army

30,000 Papal Guard troops (elite troops)

560,000 soldiers (most of them required to keep order on the planet)

Since this thread apparently is going nowhere and posting is always in posts less then 100 words, I think it's time I joined the fight.

 Aloxe Empire

100 years after the initial downfall of the American Empire a young man named Talon X. Aloxe quickly grabbed some of his fellow miners and hijacked a ship. Due to inexperience they crashed only a few months after taking the vehicle and began to slowly form a colony on the planet now christened Talon X. A slow and tedious struggle for survival began but the few selected 100 individuals managed to finally construct a self-reliant colony.

A short time after this monumental task was accomplished they began to build smaller scouting ships and explore not only their own land, but surrounding planets as well. 300 years later the population had gone quite further, now reaching around 6,000 people. This is when the people formed a Democracy to help Govern the populace fairly and equally.

Nothing large happened until 600 years after the official date of the rise of a Democratic rule. The Florack Empire, one reachable with two months of travel from Talon X began an Imperialistic rampage; attacking nearby colonies and decimating any Pirates or House resistance. Quickly dragging every available man, women and teenager the Aloxe Empire threw 500,000 fighters into the battle, which was more then, half of their total population. The Florian and Aloxe war raged on for centuries but the Florack finally crumbled as the economy could no longer support such a large-scale production.

Now the Aloxe control two planets: Talon X and Thebes III, they also control the neighboring six moons of both of these.

Total population: 2,456,456

Fleet:

Two Imperial Flag Ships

Three battle cruisers

Twenty destroyers

Thirty-three cruisers

245 supporting gun ships

Ok, I was just thinking of something, and I believe that we need to solidify exactly what each type of ship is, and does, jsut so we know its capabilities. Here is what I am thinking, add what yo think afterwords if you disagree or have a different idea.

Carrier: HUGE ship, with an enormous hold. Its primary role is to carry fighters and bombers and other smaller ships to a battlefield situation, and also to serve as a mobile command base. It has huge amounts of armor and sheilds, but no offencive weaponry of its own, except for small defencive turrets.

Battleship/Battlecruiser: Slightly smaller than the carrier, pretty much, a Star Destroyer type craft, with huge amounts of weaponry of all types mounted everywhere. This ship is huge, and has huge amounts of armor. It has a small docking bay to transport a few fighter/bombers or scout ships. No other ship can stand alone against a battleship.

Cruiser: The poor mans battleship. While huge and impressive, it does not have quite as much firepower or armor as a battleship. It's main advantage is that it is much faster than a battleship, so can be more effectivly utilized for sneaky ops.

Destroyer: About half the size of a battleship, these ships are specifically designed to destroy other capital ships. They do not have very many weapons, but the weapons that they do have are usually very long range, and extremely powerful. Think of destroyers as the artillary of the battle, kind of like a cruise missile boat in modern naval battles.

Frigettes/corvettes: pretty much the same thing. They are support ships that usually have specilized functions in a battle

Gunships: Larger than a fighter, smaller than a corvette, they are small and manuverable, while packing a decent punch. there are several variations of Gunships, but your average gunship will probably be a missile or large cannon gunship.

Fighters/bombers: Bombers are small, fast, manuverable ships that are designed to bring heavy firepower to the front lines. They are smarter and harder to kill than cruise missiles because of their human pilot, plus the bomber can carry multiple warheads, so bombers are your best bet for hurting things a lot.

Because humans fly bombers, humans are also the best way to intercept and destroy a bomber, so fighters are faster and more manuverable than a bomber, but do not have quite the firepower.

Umm, there I think thats it.

dreadnoughts are destroyers basically right?

oh and I'll add one

merchant ship: light armored ship with no arms, their only purpose is to transport goods across space, since they have no weapons and light armor they rely on other ships as escort. Merchant ships are usually the the size of a frigette

Can't, issue with doing that is theres a few variables that can't be put into a limit.

For example: if I have four planets and you have three, how many workers you have, how many resources you mine, whether your people support a military build up etc, are all deciding factors. (You become more skilled and carefull with these as you post more and more in FF).

So thats why I can't restrict the speed of a units construction.

  • 2 weeks later...

(My first foray into Fed2k fan fiction. Here goes...)

~

Name: Dragon Sun

Population: Unaccounted for; made up of a variety of races

Ideology: Communist-based; belief centralized over the ideal of Humanity as being the sole aspect of worship

Leader: Comrade Premier Lee

Homeworld:Once Earth, now, their residence is aboard The People's Prospect, Grand Fathership of the Dragon Sun. The ship works by landing itself on respective planets, and establishing itself on that plaent until the planet is claimed in the name of that empire; it will then detach itself from that planet, and take it's fleet to claim another planet. Current attachment: Bosco 4

Attack style: Always en masse; concentrates more on quantity than quality; likes to swarm. note that despite their large numers; the quality of their forces aren't really impressive.

Fleet(fathership not counted):1 Flagship (Battlecruiser)

8 carriers (holds much of the forces)

2 cruisers

1000 fighter/bomber ships (works in tandem)

800 gunships

3 destroyers

100 frigates

Army (just a basic outline):

1. Invasive pods; they don't use transport ships. Rather, when invading a planet, or attacking ships, these pods are fired at rapid speed, each holding up to ten men or a small fighting unit, to crash into the hull of the ship. The pods move rapidly fast, are hard to shoot down, and durable. They are, however, used only once. Larger pods ared used when armour is transported

2. Unaccounted number of normal fighting forces, last estimate to be a minimum of a million used in taking fleet ships alone

3. Hark class Tanks; These tanks are units designed to operate in deep space; however, while they can be used to serve in the fleet in times of distress, they are mainly used in attacking the interiors of a ship or in an invasion

4. Vigilante class mech units: small mech units with dual chainguns, designed to be heavy support for infantry (mixture of Wolverine class units from Tiberian Sun and the mechs from The Matrix sequels)

~

Of course; the army outline above is just a taste of what it'll really look like (it's quite huge, and this empire tends to involve it's army more than it's fleet, as it prefers to capture ships than obliterating them).

ALso, this is my first time here; I'd like to know wetehr my faction is too over-powerful,a nd what should be removed (let me keep the tanks though. ANd pelase note that their emphasis is on quantity)
