In the united states of America, we are talking about Canada. Mahdi really should edit the title to Canadian Thanksgiving.

I heard so many times about Thanksgiving. But what is it exactly? I mean what is the origin of it?

I heard that it was created somewhere close after the american revolution, being gratefull to their grandfathers for fighting for the land they're living upon right now.

wasnt some feast or something between the pilgrims and the indians...and then after the feast the pilgrims gave them small pox coverd blankets?

Thanksgiving commemorates the settlers who landed in what is now Plymouth, Massachusetts. They gave thanks for their bountiful harvest in 1621.

HOWEVER!

The first true giving of thanks, according to the Ottawa Citizen, took place in 1571 when Martin Frobisher and his crew of about 100 thanked God for their deliverence from death in the Canadian arctic.

Maybe that's why Canada's Thanksgiving is before the United States.

Canada's is earlier because the government wanted it to happen before we all got snowed in, so they moved it back. It was originally in november too. Well, the original recognized holiday.
