No, Quicktime cannot play avi's. Avi files should be playable in the default windows media player. If it is a compressed AVI you need to get a hold of the Divx codecs.

KaZaA is good for downloading spyware. And you shouldn't download something in IRC.

The standard Windows Media Player can show avi-files.

But sometimes you need a codec.

The codec much used right now is DivX. You can find that on www.divx.com

With some movies the sound doesn't work even when you installed DivX. I downloaded another codec, which solved the problem. It is the so-called Nimo Codec I have. But I lost the url. So search the web for it.

You should get rid of anything of Gator that you can find on your computer. It is spyware...
