E:BFD in the phils?? fedaykins
Avrillian_Sard01 replied to piterdevries's topic in Emperor: Battle for Dune
Pardon me for being late on the reply, I only noticed this now... Being a fellow Pinoy, I might be able to help...sort of... I remember playing Emperor during my 4th year high school days (S.Y. 2001-2002), but it was a year or so later (and with the installment of a graphics card) that I got to play Emperor on my PC. Maybe no one was talking about it because Counter-Strike was the reigning game back then (just like MMORPGs are the norm now), or maybe because it was too hard? But its 2005 now, and I'm not sure if there are still some PC game shops selling E:BFD. The last time I saw E:BFD on the shelf was like 2-3 years ago. I suggest checking out a certain PC game store in SM Centerpoint (aka: in Sta. Mesa, Manila...provided you're still here in the Philippines...), it was there that I saw an original copy of E:BFD. Of course, there's this certain alternative, but to say it will be against a certain forum rule here w/c abhors discussion of...such kind of stuff, w/c is that alternative I speak of... And yes, Fedaykins can ride worms. But to summon one takes time, though, so its better to use a number of Fedaykins to increase the chances of getting a worm... -
*Currently drooling at the graphics and the Land Battle and Space Battle modes...*

*whistles* Sweet! Just wish that it can make its way to my place...

Star Wars Episode III: Revenge of The Sith Just wanna see how this arc comes full circle...

There seems to be more unit types in RA1 (More infantry types and vehicle types) than in RA2 (w/c is nothing but basic anti-armor, anti-vehicle, anti-infantry, etc... They made the units too basic...)...that's what I meant...
-
Hooboy...I totally dislike the cartoonyness of some of the units in RA2... I liked the serious overtones of RA1, but making a sequel with some outrageous units and balancing issues totally killed the fun in the RA storyline... I could've sworn there are more units 'fielded' in RA1 than RA2...

Damn, is it that bad? Anyway, a friend of mine told me of a place where I can play BFME and see for myself if its bad or not...

Hey guys, long time no see... Sorry to dredge this out of the void, but putting it back on topic, "LOTR: The Battle For Middle-Earth" has been out this past week or so (at least maybe in the US, but I don't know if they are beginning to sell copies outside America.) So now I'm wondering if anyone has played this already... Official site: http://www.eagames.com/official/lordoftherings/thebattleformiddleearth/us/home.jsp

Hey guys! Has anyone played the campaign mode of DoW? (C'mon, I'm definitely sure the game is not just for LAN enjoyment!) If so, is it Space Marines only or are there campaigns for the other races (Eldar, Ork, Chaos)? And somebody PLEASE, spoil the mission/s after the mission where you reinforce an outpost on another side of a long chasm, destroy a chapel gate to stop the opening of "the key" and you fight some traitor Imperial Guards. [hide]And a conversation about a thingee called the "Maledictum"...[/hide] Also, does anyone know sites w/c has a complete listing of all the units and structures in DoW?

Best homeworld to invade as House Harkonnen?
Avrillian_Sard01 replied to Avrillian_Sard01's topic in Emperor Strategy
So, strategies have been formulated... The rest of the story will be behind the spoiler codes... [hide]The Ordos have only one route for all their units on their way to invade your base. Hold that route and you can stem the attacks. In my case, I made a skirmish line of at least 24 Fremen Fedaykin (They can't fight an enemy they can't see, and those wierding modules of theirs are kick ass against their tanks and infantry unlucky enough to get close...) w/ ADP support a short time later... If you're fighting an insidious opponent...be more insidious... Then later, I focused on Dev dropping on certain areas and strategic airstrikes w/ Gunships, but I wasn't able to scout the enemy base's Palace, so I just used the Death Hand on defenses and stationary units for a while... But as soon as I found the palace, I launched the Death Hand there ASAP. I continued chipping away at their base and captured some structures (Con Yard and Factory), thanks to a staging area I made with another MCV I built... Attempted to capture the Great Hall, but the cursor automatically set on attack instead of capture, so I dropped Devastators between each of the pillars near the Great Hall and bombarded it to kingdom come. Victory is sweet... 8)[/hide] And if you fight against House Atreides, they have Fremen support...bad for your units... -
Damn! I only built Minos and Mongooses in a 1:3 ratio w/ 2 Repair Vehicles in each battle group...
-
Old topic, but anyway: [hide]The Gunseng cinematic is more hilarious. "I'll have to contact you later Commander, when its A LITTLE LESS NOISY!" -Gunseng[/hide] I'm gonna watch that again for laughs...
-
Another alternative: Un-deploy your MCV, move it out of the radiated zone and have 2 Repair Vehicles on standby to repair the MCV. Saves a wee bit more money that way.
-
*Facefaults* You got about 4 snipers (3 elite), 9 Kindjal (6 elite) and 2 engineers inside the 3 APC's. Why the engineers? Basically anti-leech until you can get those repair vehicles up and running...

Best homeworld to invade as House Harkonnen?
Avrillian_Sard01 replied to Avrillian_Sard01's topic in Emperor Strategy
Massing Sards+Ordos Chaos Lightning=bad... Hmm...I'll keep those tips in mind the next time I invade Draconis IV... I guess I can start formulating strategies as House HK... -
I've just rediscovered the joy of playing Emperor: Battle For Dune, now that my PC's alright (well, almost...). And it feels good to play it especially when you've just been ditched by a girl whom you thought loved you...(ah, don't ask me for the details...) Anyway: Both the sky-based weapons of House Ordos and House Atreides, are, (in my opinion), the most difficult to deal w/. Either your units kill each other or they get scared s**tless off the damn map. On the contrary, I find the HK Death Hand missile easy to deal with, because it aims for your structures, not your units. Ergo, the invasion of Giedi Prime is a piece of cake...as Atreides or Ordos... I wish I would say the same for the other houses when I play as House HK, but it ain't. (It seems...) So if anyone has advice on this, it would be greatly appreciated... (And in case this has been posted already, feel free to redirect me to the forum/s w/c already mentioned this...)

Question: Any advice on how to beat the Emperor Worm mission as other houses? I finished it before w/ House Ordos, just air-dropped Kobra Cannons on the ridges where there are Tleilaxu Living Turrets, did the same on the Guild/Tleilaxu "Atreides" base (and captured some structures, House Harkonnen, Atreides, Guild Palace, Mega Cannon and Tleilaxu Flesh Vat) I didn't use subhouse tech that much though. Finished off the worm with Lasgun Hover Tanks... The Mega Cannon, when captured, cannot destroy the Emperor Worm per se, as it has a slow recharge time and the worm repairs itself.

Judicator? That be Aldaris, my friend... He was just too...against change... Maybe Terrans are a lower form of Xel'Naga w/c got separated from them... :- And I still consider SC II a possibility... There's an 'apparent' clip of SC II in the original WC III...finish all missions on "Hard" (w/ cheats or w/o, don't matter...) -and you'll see a 20-second 'clip' of some Terran Marines attacking Zerglings and Hydralisks (speaking of w/c, you can rescue a Zerg Hydralisk in the 'Daughters Of The Moon' mission), then being attacked by Orcs in Terran armor, rendered w/ the WC III engine-during the credits...
-
Before answering, here's something abt. Infested Terrans: Most likely explanation for that is that Terrans may be more easily mutatable to become Infested Terrans than the Protoss, and also because most Terrans have little to no psionic capabilities (read: can easily be rendered mindless, except those w/ high psionic potential), unlike the Protoss who have a large amount of psi-energy (read: impossible to make them mindless drones, w/c most of the Zerg are...). This connection w/ infestation and psi-energy still is, at best, a theoretical explanation... [end pseudo-scientific mode] As for the WCIII Naga, they were once Night Elves as well, but for some reason, became these seafaring creatures...but I guess its not the right thread to discuss that matter... I heard some rumors from a friend about the Terrans having 2 types of SCV's, Alpha and Delta. Are they from the 2 different versions of Terrans? (The Colonial Terrans and the United Earth Directorate) Well, it could be possible...but hey, a rumor's a rumor...

Some time ago, it was C&C:Generals (including Zero Hour), but for some reason, I got bored of it and played something else... And that 'something else' right now is "Lord of The Rings: The Return of The King". Sure, it may be a movie-tie in, but you gotta love hacking and slashing Orcs/Uruks/Uruk-hai/Easterlings w/ your favorite Fellowship character (in my case, Aragorn, Gandalf, Legolas, Faramir) or just play some characters just for kicks (i.e. Gimli, the Hobbits). BTW, there's some stuff in that game w/c is more closer to the books... ;) And Starcraft is an old game indeed, but I'm sure people will come back to play it again years from now... Besides, the graphics are easy on the PC, they don't need high requirements, w/c may account for its playability.

Reavers...not as long range as...say, a Terran Siege Tank, but has more damage than the latter (w/c can also be upgraded at the Robotics Support Bay, aside from the Forge weapons upgrades.) And one of the most amusing unit acknowledgements in the game... The only downside is you gotta have a lot of minerals in your stash to prolong its effectiveness (read:build more scarabs). And like the Siege Tank, it requires some support units as well...
-
Give me Protoss Scouts and Corsairs (BW) Corsairs-give them the Disruption Web upgrade, and any stationary defense structure can be disabled, leaving you free to pummel them (as long as its medium to long-range/aerial attacks) w/o fear of retaliation. Good, swift ATA damage too... Scouts-early air assault unit, cheaper to produce and coupled w/ Shield Battery use and Observers, are cool units in the field. As for spellcasters: Dark Archon Mind Control-I personally prefer its more intriguing use...contolling enemy worker units...
