Homo-sexuality is of all ages. Even the bible reports of it (ok, it says it is bad, but so was everything in Soddom and Gomora). And, without any studies or links I can say that I am allmost certain that homo-sexuality is geneticly. The mother of my ex-girlfriend is a lesbian. Two of her uncles are. Her grandma probably is. Way to much coincidence. (I to have read about it being genitical) BUT, it I don't think it's a disease. A disease can be cured. Homo-sexuality can't and shouldn't be cured (my opinion, my own opinion.) (btw, I'm bi-sexual :))

Are they so much smarter. Ok, mentats can hold a lot more info than most people can today, but hey, they've got a lot more time to learn ;)

you rather have -the poverty of [fill in allmost any south-american or african country here]? (or even the US) -the crime numbers of say the US or Russia? etc. -the education level of China? Iran? etc. -the economy of [fill in allmost any south-american or african country here] -the political system of any dictator ship? China? US? (at least what the majority of country chooses gets to run the country. I didn't choose this government (way to right winged for me), but it is what 'the country wanted' (unlike the US for example)) no, I will take The Netherlands any day! IMHO there are only 2~3 countries who have it better then we do (and yes, most of those are Scandanavian). in short: stop whining!

mein Deutsch ist nicht sehr gut, aber ich wei

Yes, then you would be. Never said she wasn't ;) Compared to most other countries (say 95%), we do have a great country :P Well, I do know some. But they are Straight Edge :)

Ok, this topic is way off-topic, but I don't think anyone minds. Nema Fakei? Are you serious? You sound like a Catholic priest... 200 hundred years ago! You're acting like everything a normal (yes NORMAL) Dutch teenagers does is illigal, bad and that he/she will go to hell (after getting countless deseases). I'm 60% certain you are pulling our leg. Please let it be so. The Art of Peonism: Our country is very liberal, but it didn't cause us harm. Quite the oppesit. We are one of the most pleasant countries to live in: Low poverty, low crime, high education, high economy. Eric E.: You're numbers aren't excactly right. The average age is a bit higher m/f 17/16, but still. Ok (I was 18, not married and did it safe (double dutch eg. condom, pill)). Another thing, abortion isn't something we promote in the Netherlands, but it is allowed. If it's your last change (for real) you to would consider not to do it. (And you are only allowed 2~3 abortions, after that, most docters will not give it to you.) In short: The Netherlands are liberal, true, but calling premaritial sex disgusting is wrong. Let people decide for themself. On-topic: Allmost nothing is blurred out in The Netherlands (xcept for MTV, but he, that's not originally a Dutch station). Fucking in family movies (no penisses shown going in out of vaginas, but just to people getting it on) and allmost every Dutch movie has some nudity. Just be proud of your body. And in The Netherlands it's quite normal to go brush your teeth while your sister is taking a bath or something. It's not that every time you see your sister naked you jump here. Come'on it's your sister. And one last note: As chef said in South Park: "What is the right age to start having sex?" "17"

I find most of the aspects in Dune not very realistic, but the human behavior is quite realistic. That said, I would like to say something about the science in Dune. At this moment it's not realistic, but look at how SF allready influed science irl. Sliding doors in ST:TOS now exist and no one thinks they are strange. Communicators in ST:TOS.. cell phones anyone. I do think SF can make it self realistic. If it's a good idea in the book (theorie), some SF-freak (eg. Dune reader like us :D), will invent it, someday...

it's a little bit of both here on dune2k.com

OOC: ehrm, we'll just make that a OVERWHELMING ATTACK by Dust Scout ok? Hmmm, babylon thinks a he is under the worm. How to get out of this situation. He tries to get to a cannister of water, but just can't reach it. The worm starts to get pretty heavy now. Luckely the sand isn't very dense. babylon is pushed deeper into the sand. Due to live-long meditation, babylon can hold his breath for a very long time. Using his mind he can unscrew the cannister as soon as the cannister is opened water starts to poor out. First a bit, then it gushes out, liters, galloons, enough to fill a midium size swimming pool. babylon thinks to himself: "Allways handy to have a no-field cannister filled with lots of water." The worm tries to get away from the water and rises far above the arena, before dying and falling to the ground. just before falling on top of babylon, again, babylon rolles away and thinks to himself: "Nice DEFENCE, I might say."

OOC: I've send nEwT a IM about this. But I don't agree with such a big nuclear submarine with torpedoes and all. I think it messes up the gameplay. And remember where pirating trade ships and shit. Not conquering small countries :D

I guess Red World (the original) won't come back? Damn, just when I got started. Thnx alot guys for using the nukes and stuff... >:(

Suddenly the earth begins to shake beneath Dust Scout. He thinks: 'What the ****'. He begins to slide away to the left. Then only a few meters to his left the immense Sand Worm he summoned in an earlier battle rises again, drawn by Dust Scout shield. Totally crazy the worm lands his massive body on top of Dust Scout. babylon smiles. 'My ATTACK couldn't be easier.'
-
Still sitting down meditating, babylon focusses all his energy to Dust Scout. Dust Scout starts to move oncontrollably, walking into walls and spinning in circles. Made completly mad by babylons OVERWHELMING mind ATTACK. An attack that can easily penetrate Dust Scouts Holtzman shielding.
-
(OOC: Do we have to wait for the score to arrive or can we make it extra difficult for you by posting the next attack :P)
-
Having observed passed fights from Dust Scout, babylon knows Dust Scout mainly depends on speed. Knowing he can never reach those speeds by just walking, babylon starts meditating in the middle of the Arena. Dust Scout not knowing what to do with such a target start running towards babylon to crush him. But the moment he reaches babylon, babylon isn't there anymore. Confused Dust Scout looks around and sees babylon at the other end of the Arena. He turns around and runs towards babylon again. Just before crushing him, babylon disappears again. Dust Scout turns around quickly and sees... nothing. On top of Dust Scout, babylon takes a green glowing stick and presses a button. The stick changes in length and is now a 6 feet long spear. babylon jammes it into Dust Scout as his first ATTACK. Then babylon jumps of Dust Scout and starts to meditate again.

What I meant to say is that references to the Thinking Machines and the Butlerian Jihad are in the originals. Just not the name 'Omnius'. But the concept of men ruled by AI was in the originals. So, the 'Omnius garbage' isn't total garbage.

babylon fighter from the unknown steps in to do battle. Mysteriously looking in his brown clothing and matching cloak.

same thought here. they can write a story about young paul. as long as they first write Dune 7 first :O
-
Ok, if you want a pissing-contest I'll give you a pissing-contest. Paul of Dune (BH & KJA) (tentative title) This POSSIBLE trilogy will be written covering the early years of Paul. This will take place after the "Prelude to Dune" novels. -------------------------------- "Dune 7" (BH & KJA) (no title yet) This is the final novel proposed for the Dune Universe and will take place after the events of Chapterhouse: Dune source: http://www.dunenovels.com I agree, the change that they will write Paul of Dune is very big. On Dune 7: I agree with you that they should write it as Frank has intended it. But changes are very slim. It says (BH & KJA) not (FH). The Omnius garbage is in the original books (or did you completly forget all the references to the thinking machines and the Butlerian Jihad.)
-
It doesn't matter what Frank would have done. Frank is dead, Frank doesn't write books anymore (not in this plain of excistince at least). His son does and he gives the hints I've mentioned and he will write book 7. (and he will do that by using notes Frank left behind)
-
It's not crazy. How can you possibly know what Frank Herbert wanted. Fact is, Frank isn't writing anymore. And the hints: Thread from the past (D'Mur in House Corrino) and: The Omnius probes (Legends) clearly indicate what is going to happen in Dune 7. One of the reasons Legends are being written is so everyone could understand Dune 7 better (I read somewhere). Live with it, Frank doesn't decide what will happen.
