Westwood probably never thought that Dune 2000 would still be played after 10 years. And to be played on time warp machines :D
-
I still play But it

Just another thought. DLAghost was another player I used to come across in D2K. Wonder where he's hidding now?

What ever happened to shygirl? She used to be very active on D2K

Thanks guys At the very least I will download the demo and double my ram to 1 gig, then give it a go. The system seems to run BFV very well on medium level, but when things get very busy it seems to slow a little.

Can anyone tell me whether battlefield 2 will play on an AMD 2500+ system with 512ram and a geforce FX5700

Need to organise a time for those of us "south of the border" ie Australia, New Zealand etc Anyone within a few hours either side of my time zone (new zealand)keen for a game? Depending on daylight saving NZ is 12 - 13 hours in front of GMT.

I'll have to try tonight ;D ;D ;D ;D I hope this is not a cruel joke. Thanks for keeping tabs on WOL DRFsimmsy

Can D2k be played on other servers, like those Emperor are played on?
-
Must be more than just the serial server as I tried to log on last night with Dune 2000 and could not connect. D2K does not require a serial key?
-
Does anyone know if WOL has gone down? I tried to get on last night and got the message "Bad Password", this was for D2K and Emperor.

Nefud A few questions questions. Is the disc an original? If it is, allow the disc to run it's self install when you put the disc in the drive. Are you able to copy the disc onto your HD, i.e. can you read the disc ok? The game doesn't run within a DOS shell! Most of the problems are graphics related when considering D2K and XP, compatibility usually helps then, but not with installation. What programs are you running when trying to install? Close down any virus software prior to installation. What service pack are you running? SP2 may create issues? I run D2k on XP home without the compatibility mode. No installation problems, just a few graphic issues needed sorted.

use this link for the rc patches. http://www.geocities.com/dlafalcon/home I don't believe they will help with the time out issues. The rc patches only help to hold greater than 4 player games together online. The out of sync error usually happens when in multi player mode. One player has moded version of the game. All players need to have the same version, preferably no mods, otherwise it will bring the game to a halt after a period of time.

Can anyone remember the game that attached to your TV and you had the choice of either tennis, hockey or squash. The graphics were very simple, a vertically moving short white line at each side of the TV and a moving white dot. The white dot bounced around the top and bottom edges of your TV screen. (Mid to late seventies). What about the original space invader games mounted into small tables? Pac-man and galaxy soon followed afterwards.

Can anyone tell me whether you can run MSN (net meeting)in the background while playing Dune 2000 online so you can talk to the other players during the game instead of using the function keys?

Check out this thread it may help :) http://www.dune2k.com/forum/index.php?topic=13775.0

I have only just got into reading all the books after dune. Watching the miniseries was about my limit up until now. I am half way through Chapter House and have started looking for more books that takes you beyond Chapter House. No luck! I find out Frank Herbert died. Has another author taken up the challenge, the bar has been set very high for future books. With the hundred or so pages left to go, there seems to be far to many questions and so few pages to answer them. There needs to be more books. all the best Scotsman

August 25 and XP SP2 release
scotsman replied to scotsman's topic in Technical Issues, News, & Reviews
SP2 for network users is around 250MB, however the SP2 for home users (due for release 25 Aug) is about 90Mb-110Mb. The magazine "PC World" September edition, will have a free CD containing the SP2 update. This might help people with dial-up connections. I guess a restore point will be in order. Then install the SP and "suck it and see". I assume you can recover the restore point if SP2 creates frustrating issues? All the best -
Has anyone tried the beta versions of this service pack? Does if affect playing DUNE 2000 or EBFD? They talk about this service pack as being a major component (an intermediate OS before longhorn, due in 2006). Is there a ginni pig out there, willing to install the SP and posting any problems, if any before the rest of us follow?

I run Dune2000 with XP home. There was some problems at the start, (split screen), but with updating to directx 9.0b and using the latest nVIDIA drivers all problems resolved themselves. You do not need to run in compatability mode. Check out Dune 2000 technical issues for how xp issues were solved. All the best

There is not many sports that would accept back, a suspected "rapist" and convicted felon, not to mention what he did to Hollyfields ear. I had more respect for Tyson in the early years (prior to prison). He should never have been allowed back into the ring after the ear biting escapade. In the early years his type of fighting (brawling) was a great draw card especially in the heavyweight division. The sport needs that type of personality and toe to toe type of fighting back.

I'll try re-installing as you suggested. I also handed the problem to EA technical support, but have not heard back yet. All the best

Nyar The problems has always been there. I installed the program as per instructions, ie no firewall or virus programs running during installation. When playing I shut down all applications and leave the processes (as outlined in task manager) well alone. I'm not at the game machine but is it worth listing the 27 processes that my machine runs, check for conflict and perhaps outline what I could shut down? Its just a thought and I will include them in the next post if it's worth while. Something else, I installed the game while my system was configured in FAT32 format. The problem was there, no other issues. I was told by workmates that NTFS was the better format so using the built in conversion with XP I converted to NTFS. I then re-installed 1942. The problem was still there, and again everything else works.
