I was bored (as usual) and I went out looking through all the board numbers. Like the General board has number 2, and so on.

But I noticed that 3 boards are missing. Board 31, 35, and 36.

Were they once boards, and which?

Otherwise it would look odd to me why those numbers were skipped.

(Some more board numbers are missing, but I knew what they were, like the Emperor Strategy Boards which merged into 1 board)

Just my curiousity

bet one of them is the Dune Generations Board (probably 31)

but why wouldn't there be more missing boards if it was the missing Emp Strat boards? if memory serves, there used to be a strat board for every sub-house, which means there woulda been 5 strat boards, wouldn't there? plus 3 for each House, I believe. totalling 8.

minus the Dune Generations board, that only accounts for 2 out of the 8 missing strat boards :-

Er... my memory serves differently:

3 House Strategy boards, plus one subhouse board, condensed into one strategy board: accounting for the disapperance of 3 boards. But that still leaves DG.

That, or yetis are innumerate...

Different types of staff boards, that's all I can say. I wouldn't know either, but when I move topics in fanfic I get a big list of boards, including the Staff ones.

24 is staff discussion

25 is the old A2k dev board

26 is the old landsraad board

32 is old polls from the landsraad

33 is forum staff discussion

37 is the new landsraad board

As for 31, 35, and 36 I don't remember...

I made them private, because I didn't knew Gob didn't want to hide them. Just in case, imagine a big angry yeti.

But how do you define board numbers Gob? Do you give them manually a number, or does the forum software do it, when you create a new board?

Posted

no, when you create your first board it is one, your second would be two. your third would be three. but then when you delete two, three wouldn't become two.

Posted

I may be wrong but when boards are merged don't all but one lose their numbers. Then if for any reason you split them again they start over at the last number left off, all but the one that didn't lose it's number that is.

I see, so when I send Gob a letter. I must send it to another type of adress.

But which one is the mailbox? 31, 35 or 36?
