I was just wondering - how many of You guys are Marvel or comic fans?

I myself have always been a huge Marvel, X-Men and Wolverine fan.

How about You?

Just today saw X2. A pretty nice movie. :) At least it had lotsa stuff for the fans and also much action and cool special effects.

Nothing special, but wanted to hear Your thoughts.

As a fan, I must say the movie-makers are doing a pretty good job. :)

They modified some stuff regarding Nightcrawler and the whole Weapon X Department H thingy.

And I'm surprised that they still haven't included Henry McCoy alias the Beast (although he made a very brief appearance in X2), because his life was pretty screwed up after the invasion to Mansion X (blue fur).

Okay, now Your thoughts. :)

both X-Men movies suck

horrible, hokey "acting", zero plot, boring special FX

the comics were ok. of course there's some really stupid stuff. ie: "Jean Grey" --- that the most asinine name for a superhero, ever

Donald Duuck was and still is awesome. ;D

Marvel is considered the most famous comic book company.

Though almost all of their classic characters wear spandex and jump around in their underwear, seeming quite awkward to new readers, they have quite recently made new series. Remake series, that is.

My favourite old series include the Uncanny X-Men and Wolverine.

My favourite newer series are New X-Men, Ultimate X-Men and Origin. Origin is my favourite in particular because it tells a cool story of Logan while he hadn't discovered his mutant abilities yet. That's a spicy meatball, if You're a Marvel or Wolverine fan and haven't read it yet, then do! :D

Yeah, I've never liked X-Men Evolution either.

UXM is one of my fave, because my fave artist Adam Kubert deals with the pens there. ;) Yeah, baby! :P

I am very pleased with Hugh Jackman's performance in both movies. He maybe seems a BIT too sad and quiet and only rarely let's his anger out.

But he's okay.

The character who least left me an impression in the movies was Cyclops. It's almost like he's only there to hang out with Jean or to form that infamos love-triangle...

*sigh* ofcourse, Nav comes and complains again. I think the movie was quite awesome, i havn't seen the 2nd yet, it's gonna be released worldwide at the first of may, so i don't understand how come you already saw it.

Besides... if you don't like the movie, just go for our great, and great looking dutch actress, named Famke Janssen.

Nah, it's nothing. If he thinks the movies sucked, then so be it.

They aren't quality movies after all, just comic book movies.

But I think that they're still the best Marvel comic movies out there.

Spider-Man was too ... boring ... since everybody already knows everything about Spidey. It was quite okay, but the X movies offered more action since they had much more characters.

Though, Arohk, next time please consider the genre (which is comic book movie), because NATURALLY X-Men movies can NOT be compared with masterpieced like LOTR or Matrix or even better movies. Consider the genre. Pretty please? ;D

you wanna know a great comic book movie: Spawn

thats the best comic book movie ever. yes it does have a few instances of the same horrible acting as X-Men, but the plot, FX and acting are done way way wayyyyyyyyy better

esp. by how Clown/Violator was done. at least he made the movie interesting unlike in X-Men where there are no interesting actors whatsoever except for Hugh Jackman

Seen Spawn. Quite cool. Though it suffered alot from the critics.

The acting part in X movies is true - Hugh was the only one with true carisma.

mmh anyone knows the "Apocalypse" series from X-Men ?

Not "Ages of Apocalypse" but the series following Charles Xavier's paradoxical death at the hands of his son, who originally wanted to kill Magneto.

Joe Madureira is one of the best Marvel artists, i think he draw half the Apocalypse series together with Andy Kubert

Spawn was okay, but frankly apollyon beat you up bigtime with his choice.lol

Yes I still have 3 boxes of comics in my room. Dont collect them anymore though. I was more into the transendant superheros. Like Warlock and Eternal Tribunal, or ultra cool human super hero's like Cable and Black Axe. Now those guys kicked butt. ahh brings back memories.lol

Ah, we seem to have quite the same taste. Andy Kubert's one of the best.

Yeah, I recall such series. The one's were Wolverine was ... slightly ... converted ... ;)

Oh, by the way - Cable used to be one of my faves. Still is. :)

LMFAO!

This is the second worst movie I have ever seen, and I have seen thousands. The acting was contrived, the plot was absurd, the effects were cheap, and the Violator was just annoying. I cancelled my subscription after seeing this turd and have never looked back since.

The only other movie I know of that is worse is Blade, also based on a comic book. This movie was stupid from minute one and only got became enjoyable as the end credits were rolling.

Yes, the Crow was basewd on a "Graphic Novel" by James O'Barr. The movie failed to capture the brilliant pathos and dementia of the comic, but it was still good none the less.

I agree, Jean Grey needs a better name, something more cliche' like "The Badger", or descriptive like "Psychic Woman". Lord help that we should ever have a hero with a real name.

One of my all-time favorite movies, Howard the Duck, is based on a comic book from Marvel in the 70s. The two are nothing alike, but I think the movie turned out better.

For what it's worth, the X-Men movie was far better than I anticipated. The back story was pulled off well and seemed somewhat believeable, unlike most comic book movies which are just juvinille and get worse as they try and make them seem sophisticated.

Someone should also mention Batman. (first two maybe, because they goot stupid at 3)

man you guys are like comic nerds, O out-grew comics at age six and now like most REAL mean play with action figures instead ;D ;)

LOL J/K but I seriously collect gundam and transformers armada action figures, I want to get optimous prime sooo bad but hes $40 and i dont wanna spend that much, I'd rahter have video games or warhammer ;D

Jean Grey has a codename in the future series - THE PHOENIX

I don't wanna spoil all the fun, but most likely You'll see what this Phoenix-stuff is all about in X3. ;)

Thanks, MechaDragonX for supporting X2, because really - it isn't the worst comic book movie, I think it's almost amongst the very best.

Spawn was quite cool, but the effects were certainly not state-of-the-art.

Malebolgia looked strange and if You saw his army of hellspawn then You could clearly see that the film-makers basicly did a rough copy-paste job.

For Spawn fans maybe it was a nice movie, but ... nyeah ... at least they could've done some better job with his symbiote.

I was a Spawn fan until I saw this movie. It absolutely killed it for me. I was pretty disenchanted with comics at this time and had given up on Marvel altogether. I stuck with Image stuff until it got even more absurd than Marvels. Now I just read tech documents and programming books.

That's why I read Ultimate X-Men and New X-Men.

They don't have that much absurd storyline, all the classic original characters but without the clown costumes.

I used to be a Spawn fan too until it became so very sickening.

That's why I like comic books with a few hundred gallons of less blood and gore ...
