OK, I have something whichI've wanted to say for a long time about this site:

It's no longer a Dune site

When I first joined over a year ago, the Duniverse was the biggest board by far and the most popular topics were all Dune-related.

Now, one year later, almost all the topics here are non-Dune related and are dominated by USA and Iraq. I don't know about anyone else but I think Dune is a fantasy world where one can escape to and get away from our modern hectic lives but instead Iraq is being brought into this site and is dominating most threads - does Fed stand for Federal!

I think fed is a short form of federal ;), and I have too noticed that there is less dune and more politics/religion(mostly politics) and that is why people are debating about a board for that and I hope they do because threads get pushed down so fast people dont see other threads.

yes, dune is a fantasy world where you can escape from, I agree. And that is why there are fan fiction boards, and gaming boards, and Duniverse boards.

this is the General board. it is a place for non-related Dune topics. this does not detract from this site because they are kept seperate...completely seperate from everything else.

true, but the only problem is that you make a thread today and tomorrow it is on the next page of general board and no one sees it. threads get pushed down so fast by a handful of subjects that could be put into another board, and not drown the other off topic subjects.

Dunenewt who says that you have to only read certain topics and reply to them. If you read through a page or two you might find more topics. As far as everyone posting in General no one forces anyone to post in a certain forum area. If you look over the site you will find many things that maybe you have not found before. Fed2k is a hugh site but some of our posters only use maybe 10% of this site.

It is true that alot of activity takes place in the General section but that is only because most people only follow where the crowd. Dunenewt if you post good topics in other areas there will be posters to discuss and debate the topics.

The site used to be called The First Ever Dune 2000 Website, that was until I released that name was sorta dumb and started using the shortform of FED2k that was started by the then owners of the dune2k.com site.

As for general being the biggest section that is bound to happen as not everyone comes to the site for the same reasons and "general" topics are going to interest the largest number of people. I have no problem with it, the site was created to bring people together who have some interest in Dune but it was never to restrict people into what they can talk about.

DOH! :) lol i didn't know that either, i call it fed2k all the time, but never knew what it meant. :)

Anyway, yeah sure Dune got a bit out of most discussions, Gulf War 2 is takin over

Thats not exactly true as I found evidence of a new Dune game for the GBA which I posted in the FH's Dune forum yet only a few people ever visit that board so it got no real coverage

Ok but you have to also remember who your audience is maybe there are not alot of GBA users so the topic had a limited appeal. If their were more users of the GBA on these boards your thread topic might have had more life. :)

Also, there is no use posting news about a game which has never and will never exist. Had someone discovered it while they were still making it, it would have gotton mroe coverage, but being found after it had already been scrapped, well, not much point in worrying too much about it.

FH's Dune was released, don't you mean Dune Generation Mahdi?

I'm referring to the GBA game "FRank Herberts Dune: Ornithopter Assault" that Dunenewt found.

So what do you propose we should do Newt? Force ourselves to venture out of General, Duniverse, Gaming, Fanfic, and Tech Support? Some of us can't play those games, or stopped playing them.
