"Diamonds are the *hardest* naturally occuring substance, not *strongest*"

Very true; strength refers to tensile or compressive force absorbable per unit before breakages; hardness refers to any deformation whatsoever (in that metallic ductility is also counted as a deformation).

At this current rate chances are this will eventuely turn unto a debate. ::)

What is the bigest tree ever recorded?

- General Sherman Giant Sequoia, 1400 tonnes

I think the longest living man was 138 when he died, but I'm not sure.

Lithuania has 45.8 suicides per 100,000 pop'n, second is Russia, 41.8.

Caid, you have the fewest patients per hospital bed in slovakia.

I think they're up to 6 billion digits on pi.

It was epidemic, not pandemic... else we wouldn't be here today.

Pandemic is occuring in many places at the same time. Epidemic is only in one specific place. The plague was occuring all over Europe.

To be official, it would need proof :)

Lets see.

Ok. i'm not sure the exact numbers but i can tell you it is the best seller of all time, and remember i am talking about overall. and not at any one time.

And i hear around 1239 people die per year by thunder. or maybe it was 10000 and something. not sure but i do know its lighting most of all.

Either take my word for it or reserch into it yourself.

Search the Guinness World Records site if you want info that politically neutral and specific;

Or get the Guinness Book Of Records 2003 from Amazon...

Besides the site and the world records book of the year, you could also simply watch the show "guiness world records" on tv. I really like to watch that program weekly :)

World's dumbest? As in there's competition throughout the world?

Anyways, that isn't dumb it's just someone typing in letters from another language, russian or greek possibly, and the browser not recognizing it and views it as ASCII. I have a dumber one: that nonsense thread, now where is that sucker...

Diamonds are the *hardest* naturally occuring substance, not *strongest* (ask another engineer besides me; they will tell you why).

I think the most abundant element is silicone.

"Most abundant naturally occuring substance on Earth:

Aluminium"

What? Surely iron (mantle) or nickel (core) or silicon (crust)?

You're right about diamond, sorry yeah, I got the wording wrong. Like I said, if I'm wrong, feel free to correct me, I wasn't 100% sure anyway. :-X

Er, Belziel, AIDS is not the most lethal disease. We have medicines now, that supress the effects, and cancer costs more lives anually then AIDS.

Best book saller of all time: KJV published in 1611

How do you know this?

Anway, the most read book, at least of the twentieth century (but possibly in entire history, unless you count all bibles as one), is Mao Zedongs red book.

Aids is the most LETHAL disease with a 99% if not a 100% lethality. It does not matter how long a person can sirvive with it, he still dies.

He, then we must all have aids. 100 % of the people die, no matter how long they live ::)
