Short stories. Like the legend of ampilaros, and the butlerian jihad. You could make up some battles between houses. Even make up fiction within the fiction of the dune universe, i.e. mythology of dune and whatnot. those are some ideas:)

In dune messiah it speaks only breifly about the curent jihad. Maybe we should do something from the other side of the jihad. The lanserad side.

How 'bout a piracy on a highliner and the Laandsraad blame Atreides for it. Noone knows who attacked, and a handful of Atreides veterans take on a secret mission to discover the truth before the Atreides are dishonoured.

A good idea!  Anyhow, let me think.  The Ordos become a charity house and give money to the House Minors, except in secret their agenda is to spark a war and sweep up the ravaged properties.

Lets mix those two together...

BTW, the Harks could like try to take over the highliner because of a Bene Gesserit sister whom holds lots of important info about spice harvesting and stuff. Thats their role in the highliner... if none can bring a better story to it.

Or this.... A Harkonnen finds love with a Atreides Woman.. And suddenly a Jealous Ordos Nerd comes between them and Slaps the Harkonnen, thus erupting into a War about "Harkonnen and Ordos " :)

aj jeez this is brainstorming, not bring-aneroxics-to-corrupt-an-already-good-idea. How about this: "Peter Fremen" An atreides diplomat is growing too old too fast and needs a vacation. None the sooner, he is taken to Arrakis and is befriended by a group of wandering (lost) fremen boys. They promptly spill his water, and that is the end of the story.
