OK. you all complain you want a new patch, but no one ever does anything about it. Well, I intend to. If we pester WW enough, they just may release a patch. Hey, the map editor was the result of a similar tactic.

So, what is SOOO horrible in Emporer that it needs patched? (Note: Don't just say "pathfinding", rewriting the entire unit AI sequence would kind of make the patch prohibitively large. ::))

Note: There's hope! Westwood just released another mappack for YR! And you said they abandoned it all!

not that large really, just the pathfinding routines. I also doubt very much theyll release a patch, id have thought there kinda busy what with the generals release date drawing nearer. Ok how about making it so when you set a destination for a refinery the harvesters actually go to the spot instead of going to the enemy's spice field ::).

1.I want a infantry war option in the patch that only allows the building of the infantry units to avoid future cheating.

2.Info of the hosted map in the lobby.

3. A vote option for kicking a player during gameplay, only when 3 of the 4 votes are positive the player gets kicked. ( to boot a cheater during play )

4. A better way to detect your buddies, half of the time the current system does not work. ( maybe a special color? )

5. A info window in the lobby that will allow the host to put additional info ( for example: ITDG mod only ).

6. No more black zone!!!!

7. A playerslist in the lobby of those who are not playing yet ( + how many? )

8. A ignore option that will allow you to block the pages from annoying players

8. Get rid of mino path finding bugs, they drive me insane! >:(

9. Downgrade the Guild

10. Fix all bugs

11. Do something to the contaminator.....

But its not gonna happen Duke, if you 1000000 signatures for a new Emperor pacth they'll just throw it away before reading it now. Duke WW sucks, they dont make any of their games and they leave their previous ones, they were a great company before the damn EA came and got them so I would be doubtfull about this......

1. Perhaps you people don't know this but harvestors going to wrong spice fields is not an result from the pathfindings, its an result of making the maps, see, when you build an map you need to place points on the places that are the best to harvest for the AI, and since the harvestor is controlled by the AI!

2. kick options are enabled, right click.

3. buddy lists are enabled as wel.

4. to have only certain people in your game, put an password on it.

What doesn't work about the buddy list? I don't understand... ???

To ATR legend:

8. I really have not had much trouble with the pathfinding.

9. Why? Makers are already cr*p, and a even half-*ss newbie can defend against NIABs, they're so easy to kill. ::)

10. Such as...?

11. Like make it cheaper and build faster? You can do that with a simple mod, but that's reasonable I suppose.

Just becasue you cuss them out and insult them in your e-mails, they don't respond? The freakin' nerve! ::) And before you go on about how they ignore petitions, what part of "the map editor was the result of a petition" do you not understand? ::)

back then they were still half suporting emperor.

kicking vote would just mean that asses can kick people out.

niab are easy to counter? yeah if you prepaire for them since the beginning, and i don't think your defence would like it!

I start to wonder ken, if you read the previous posts anyway. The player is only kicked when the 3 other players all voted yes during the kicking vote. It is to prevent a player that is cheating to continue playing.

Umm who is going to make this patch?

No one left at Westwood was involved in programming Emperor that I know of and if the rumor was true IG doesn't exist anymore...

Normally when a buddy is in a hosted game it should be listed as such, sadly enough half of the time it says no in the buddy column. :O

You are right, i saw it too, a brand new mappack. But YR is from the popular C&C series and EBFD is not.

Aside from the 3D graphics I imagine the code is very similar to the C&C code engine. Westwood should still be able to support it, but I doubt they will waste resources on software they no longer make a profit from (if they ever made a profit on it).

Actually I don't think the code would be similar as it was written mostly by IG and not Westwood.

And I don't know if they would DjCiD, I suspect its true as it came from someone who worked at IG when Emperor was being developed.

Guys, it's not going to happen. As cool as it would be, you'll just have to adapt to the imperfections somehow.

For the refinery thing...harvesters will *always* go to the closest spice. With this in mind, build your refineries as close to the desired spice as possible. Heck, I even build my refs facing outwards, both for less clutter in the base and for being closer to the desired spice, which reduces travel time therefore increasing cash flow.

Actually, ace, its the making of the map that influences where the harvestors go, see, when constructing an map you need to place AI-harvest points giving the best points for harvestors to harvest.

Chris and Devenouch are no longer WW employees.

It's a rumor only?

There is never going to be another patch. Live with it. There is no commercial benefit in doing so, hence it won't happen.

An emperor patch thet fix the problems like LOCKINGUPS, CRASHES and INSTALLATION PROBLEMS!!!!! >:(

:(

Well, since I am no longer in the gaming biz, I guess I can offer my civilian opinion on this topic.

There is no real chance of a patch for Emperor. 1) Team involved is now scatterd to the far reaches of the globe 2) User base is too low to warrent even a QA cycle on the game (e.g. will releasing a patch sell more copies? Is it worth $10,000 in QA costs to test a release patch when there is no more revenue coming in?) 3) Issues that you want patched most are not trivial fixes.

You guys are awesome, loyal, Emperor fans, and I wish there was something coming out for you. But, the odds are so very very against it. :(

As for IG, I too have heard from former team members that IG is no more. Whether that means they have all been laid off (which I believe they have), but IG will remain incorporated and return later when they can get more funds.. I have no idea. But for the time being, the team is out looking for new jobs. Please send your best wishes to them all.

p.s. Quick side note. The findpathing issue is the most difficult. We redid, retuned, rewrote, respeced, etc. that part of the game a few times to get it as good as it is. There are some inherent difficulties in doing 3D findpathing. I've seen the same complaint leveled at the other 3D RTS games. I'm curious to see how C&C Generals handles it. There are some people that worked on the AI issue (at the high concept level) on Emperor, that are working on Generals. They are very aware of the trade-offs and complications. (BTW, speed is a major concern with findpath routines .. there are many ways to get *better results* but would not yield friendly framerates on the min-spec machine.)

Hmmm... I wonder if anyone has come up with a scalable findpath system yet? It certain has ramifications to the solo player campaign (i.e. game plays different depending on how fast your machine is??) ... hmmm.. interesting...
