New Website, any sugestions

I would like to make a non-profit website which would attrack lot's of people.

Now i have to choose a subject, what shall i make the website about?

I thought maybe about NWO (New World Order) and put up some controversial things. I would like to make a website which can't be found yet on the internet.

Anybody any ideas?

people hate going to websites like geocities or angelfire or earthlink cuz of all the crappy unbelievably annoying pop ups.

If you really are committed to this site, get your own domain name, possibly your own server if you want to go big.

yes, i concur. having your own server will do wonders to your creative freedom, however keep in mind such a road is costly. first you need to pay for bandwidth. If you cannot afford at least 1 MB per sec. both up AND down, then dont bother.

if you cannot afford an actual server (not a desktop computer), then dont bother either.

if you want to have many thousands of visitors per day, then you should definately invest in your own equipment. If your visitors are maybe a few thousand a month or less, its not needed to have your own equpiment.

So i will first let it be hosted with an own domain name. But what should it be about?

Well apart from Nema Fekei's site, I couldn't find any site that even came close to a comprehensive tutorial to modding all the elements of Emperor Battle for Dune (changing textures, adding units, etc, etc.) If your site provided that, it would be extremely useful, but I guess at this stage it would be asking a lot. ;) ::) :P :-

Well. if you have any porn put it into a diffrant section. some people<Like me> don't wanna see anything nasty on a website.

And don't put only what you think about a subject. Give a little more of a choice. If you don't then explan why. People don't wanna know just what you think about something.

If you don't know for certain your going to get a lot of visitor I suggest you let some one else host your site.

Starting your own server at home might sound nice, but there are a lot of small things that you might easaly ovelook.

Securtity for one, mayby even "real" licenses for a change that can be verry pricy.

And like emprworm mentioned, if you don't have the abilety for high bandwith and to buy a "real" [ can be low priced but stiil has to be a real ] server, don't bother.

Think it's easier if you simply start with an hosted site. They arn't that expencieve anymore and you don't have the hassle to maintian it yourself.

Unsless you like that ofcourse. :)

BTW, is it New World Order the [ great ] game, or the religion ? [ which is not to bad either ;) ]
