Mahdi
Besides yourself, obviously:)I'd go with David Fincher. He is one of the best directors around, and his smooth, fluid camera movements are exactly what I'd envision in the perfect Dune film. GhostHunter
Anyone who had a large part in making Star Wars considering its a cheap rip-off of Dune ;D
TMA_1
stanley kubrick would be the best in my opinion. Very intelligent and slow, Methodical. plus he is just my favorite director and love all of his movies.lol also... as weird as it sounds, I would like to see akira kirasawa do the battle cinamatics. He is the greatest action director of all time in my opinion.
Mahdi
Kubrick.... uggghhhh.... I can't stand him, so cold and sterile, no humanity at all in his pictures.
TMA_1
exactly. Its just a matter of taste. I look at Dune as a cold and morbid tale. Perfect for Kubrick in my opinion. Or maybe Wolfgang Peterson. Another great director would be Alex Proyas who did The Crow and Dark City. It needs good mood and atmosphere. Colonel_Worf
George Lucas.(kidding. :D)
quoudam72
Only thing TMA_1 Kubrick is dead. David Fincher is a good director. Akria Kirasawau is one of best dierectors of epic movies. Finding a good director for another version of Dune would be no easy task. Whoever you choose has to be a storyteller (complex story) and has to film the picture well, top notch movie making. TMA_1
oh I am very aware of that quondum.lol But this is a fantasy thread. So anything goes director wise. A new Dune woul dnt be made anyways. so its just who I think would do best. I am starting to really think Alex Proyas would do best. He did The Crow and Dark City. Both had great mood and good set direction. I think he would be perfect for Dune.
Colonel_Worf
Ooh... here's an idea: someone who actually is a fan of Dune.
Apollyon
Ridley Scott.
SiliconWarrior
i think Peter Jackson could do well considering how well he did with the Fellowship of the Ring.Frank Herbert and JRR Tolkien are similar writers in my opinion, so i figure someone who did a good job pacing and deciding what to put in, what not to put in would do would be good. Andrew
i would pick stanly kubrick. i agree with tma-1.

Anathema
Stanly Kubrick I suppose. I don't think Peter Jackson is cut out for this sort of movie.
TMA_1
Alex Proyas... Alex Proyas .... lol or wolfgang peterson. Two who I would choose. And Ridley Scott??? the guy that did armageddon??!! geesh what a horrible movie! lol
Mahdi
Micheal Bay directed Armegeddon, t Ridley Scott. Ridley's the guy who was supposed to direct Dune before Lynch, but his budget was way to high. He also wanted Alia to be the daughter of Paul and Jessica after there first night in the desert. Terror
Ridley Scott.BAM, SMASH! right in the rose!Ridley Scott all the way
Andrew
yes ridley scott was coproducer of blade runner, a good scifi movie.
Mahdi
Once again: one of the least outlandish things Ridley Scott wanted in his Dune movie was for Alia to be the daughter of Paul and Jessica. Are you sure you'd want him to direct?
Andrew
it depends on whether the movie would be good or not. also depends on whether you care if it follows the book.
TMA_1
oh thats right! duh I didnt mean armageddon, I meant The Gladiator. I couldnt stand it. And though some say bladerunner was good, others think differently.lolAlso mahdi, was that the screen play similar to Jedorosky's one? Because thats what he wanted to do as well. Khan
Definately Peter Jackson he could do just the kind of jobs necessary to make a good Dune movie.
Terror
Ridley Scott directed the movie Alien. Probably the scariest Sci-Fi movie ever.
TMA_1
okay, I have to give props to Alien. He has directed some damn good movies. also some bad ones too.lol I wouldnt trust him with Dune. It's a little too "artsy" for Ridley Scott.
