Our Imagination, Our Future?

Think of all the imaginary "visions" we have made. Like movies. Think of all creatures, all monsters, and all worlds and civilizations we have written about. Is it possible, that anything, just anything, of what we have "created" in books, movies and even games, can indeed exist, somewhere out there in the neverending universe? Is it possible that movies like Minority Report, Blade Runner or even Star Trek could somehow reflect how the future really will be? Can Dune happen? Is it really impossible? No, I don't think that maybe Blade Runner will happen exact the year 2019, but if you take a look on the "world" Philip K. Dick created, is it really impossible that our cities will look like those?

What do you think?

Hmm, interesting concept, I doubt ANY of our ideas get close to what will happen because of how many things actually can happen. But if one idea was to be like something in the future not all the aspects of what we made will be the actualy futuristic advent :).

Hehe, maybe 6th Day will happen :P. Or Face Off. I'm sure you have read about the clone child and the possibillity of exchanging your face within a year hehe...

I hope I get to drive a flying automobile before I pass on, thats something I look forward to. But Im kinda scared bout this clone thing. How long will they let clones stay around? I mean if you get the 6th day thingy done then after you die and you are brought back as a clone... how long does he get to stay? We cant let all the clones hang around... you think mother Earth has population problems now?

But now the face off thingy sounds cool, I've always wanted to look like Mr. Kotter *tune plays "Welcome back, welcome back...."* :P

I'm interested in the scenario of Earth 2150. Perhaps there will be a war between the united continent of America (which specializes in robot technology, therefore they have advanced battle mechs) and another superpower in the united continents of Europe and Asia. In the game, the story revolved around getting off the Earth, before it crashed into the sun, since nuclear explosions at the North pole (caused by fighting) knocked the Earth out of its' orbit. I wonder... Maybe if enough explosives were detonated all at the same time at the North/South pole, it might just be enough to knock our planet onto a collision course with the Sun. ^-^

All our explosives and all the energy mankind has ever generated is not enough to move the Earth even 1 metre off its orbit. The Earth 2150 storyline is utterly ridiculous in this regard. So stop dreaming. :)

Maybe if everyone faced the sun and sneezed...

What about the theory that another large mass will capture the Earth in it's gravity field and take us away from the sun? (Unlikely I know, but still...)

An asteroid the size of Jupiter.

No such thing exists. And it cannot exist, according to what we know about how Solar Systems are formed.

Another star.

The closest one is over 4 ly (light-years) away. Not a chance!

A rogue planet from another system.

Planets don't leave their stars. There's no way they can get enough energy to break orbit and go flying off into space.

I think if Emperor:BFD was gonna be the future......

My queestion is.....

Will humans live till 10000??

Probably. Even if there will be thermonuclear war, some humans will sirvive somehow and be there to restart the process of advancement from scratch.

How about a Black Hole?

Actually we wouldn't know for quite some time - we can see with the speed of light, so to speak - the stars that we see in the sky might not be there because it is like out picture is several million years late.

If a black hole was close enough to drag us into it's gravitational field we probably wouldn't know for very long. Brains shaped like spaghetti don't think very well.
