Touch Typing Software

Does anyone know of any downloadable touch typing software. I would really like to learn how to touch type but frankly don't have time to get taught - Software would be helpful.

i know touch writing just coz i write alotttt i write it well but not as the speed i write with looking on keyboard...

Touch typing is where you use the 2 little bumps on the F and J keys to feel where the rest of the keys are so you don't need to look at the keyboard to type.

NB This is true for QWERTY keyboards but I am not sure about other types of keyboard.

When I was in High School I had a few touch type classes. But that was a while back and I find myself useing the hunt and peck method more often ;D

try "typing master 2001" or something like that. i type by looking at the keyboard(my eyes wont hurt as much from looking at keyboard)

I recommend "Mavis Beacon teaches typing." It taught me all I know about touch typing. When I was in high school, I finished the whole course book, twice!! ;D Everyone was amazed at how fast I could type. I learnt off the program a few years ago, and ever since then the ability has stuck with me. I'm not sure if you can download it, but if you can buy it cheap, then I think you should get it. Btw, I learnt how to touch type on a Macintosh LC575. That was what the program was on. I've come a long way since then. :)

One of the best ways to learn touch typing is by talking on an instant message program. After a year of it and practicing you become a master.lol I never look at the keyboard now I just type. Its like a piano.creepy...lol

You could do it like that. But you'll never learn the proper method of touch typing (i.e. which fingers are supposed to be on which keys, etc, etc.) You could end up touch typing with your index fingers all the time. That of course, isn't proper technique. :P

The thing i hate most. is you have to use your pinky when typeing. but i guess you'd get use to it.

i just took lessons when i was about 11 - 12 years old. Now i can type about 180 to 200 letters a minute... it is one of those things that where actually usefull to me 8)

i took keyboarding my sophomore year, it took a while before i got the correct way to type, but now (about a year later) i still type correctly
