A Touching Story Just For You

That is what the romans did(i beleive or some other society did back then). they put unhealthy babies on hills and tied or nailed there feet together so they could not survive.

I am not saying that is the right thing to do, i am just saying it is what happened in the past, just as you say it might happen in the future.

That is a very touching story. And as for you people, who think about contributions to society as measurement of whether a person should live or not, look at your own contributions. You will notice, the list is not too long, if you can even call it a list. As for the past - you cannot change it, even if you invented a time machine, for the time is flowing, and if someone already tried to change the past, they already did, although that would not be a change, for everything in the past already happened, including the possible interventions from the future.

Saving a human life is very honorable. If you walk by a drowning man crying out for help and think "oh, but that man can turn out like Hitler in the future, I'm not going to help him", you truly deserve to die.

you are right vigilvirus. People who want to live should be able to, unless they are a threat to civilization. People who want to die should be able to die. :P

What if they are a threat to civilization? Who will decide if they are? A dictator, mad with power will kill a child, playing with toy soldiers for conspiring against the government.

Is it better to kill a million innocents than not to kill one who is guilty of crime?

wow, what a scary statement. Man, people like Andrew are the real threat to humanity. When it is ok to execute someone just because you see them as a threat, then we are in big trouble. No need to actually commit a crime!

"What? You believe in God? You THREATEN my society. Guards! KILL HIM!"

i meant the extreme. Like if someone wanted to bring total or even partial destruction, to Earth(like a nulcear war for no reason other than to destroy stuff)

maybe i have seen to many scifi movies and the such and that is affecting my judgement.(also doesnt help that i have read some of the Turner Diaries. and no i do not beleive in that stuff)

And i dont mean thinking for yourself.

and this thread is becoming more like a defend what you beleive in thread....so that is not good i guess. (in the sense that people may make judgements of other people by what they beleive in)

"Alert! Alert! A person in our nation has threatened the existence of society. He decided to think with out the Great Council's permission. He shall be terminated with his family."

Fascism and ruler paranoia at its worst. Everything that has to do with the good of civiliazion and the state before the people themselves is corrupt.

Oh the Turner Diaries, bu what's his name Pierce. Leader of the National Alliance. Familiar with them only in passing, but supposedly a good read on how neo nazis (or something like that) could take over the US, so it sounds like it has a good plot. (Okay, anyone wishing to attack me for knowing anything about this take into account that I live in the same state as the author of that book, and I occasionally do look up stuff about the state when I'm bored.)

Suicide, suicide is a very scary thought. I've been hanging around another board besides this one recently and the people who are barely kept from committing suicide are astounding.

Anyhow, that story was indeed very touching.

i agree with you ordos

Timothy McVeigh who bombed the Oklahoma City building, read that book and it inspired him to do so.(or it just inspired him)(on another note that author died this summer)

Yes, nice story. Not too long ago I graduated from highs school, in fact my last exam was finished yesterday. However I've never kept a single friend from year 7 on to 12, and through both primary and secondary school I found it hard to cope due to bullies and all that crap. ::) It has been hard on me emotionally at times, but I managed to pull through by myself, since I never really had a 'good' or 'true' friend to depend upon for support. All that bullying and rubbish I get from people only lowers my general opinion of people, and helps to desensitize me to verbal abuse. I can confidently say that there is only one thing a person could say to damage me emotionally now, anything else will have little or no effect on me. I guess all that bullying really helped me in the long run. In a way, I'm glad it happened. :P The only price I paid was a slight loss in humanity I guess, while the verbal abuse and bullying desensitized me to them, it also destroyed some of my 'heart' if you like, so that would mean that I can be quite cold to people at times.

Yes, I was bullied all through elementary and middle school, so I said to myself "Enough!" and started working out hard, giving me big biceps, pecs, abs and thighs that kept people from bullying me. I actually want to thank the bullies for letting myself become better. I now walk through the hallways of my highschool with my head held high, my glasses held close, and my smile held wide.

I was bullied until I moved to US. Not that bad, but still. Another kid in my class was bullied pretty bad - he had his bookbag thrown into the toilet, beaten every day, his books and papers torn, etc.

I was fortunate enough to never be bullied. Since I'm not physically strong enough to hurt a fly (;)), you might find that surprising. But bullying is very, very rare over here. Students respect each other. I can say I'm very proud of my highschool for that. I don't know of anyone being bullied here.

I was bullied when I was 8 - 12 years. Then it kinda stopped all the sudden because I put up another attitude to the bullies. I loathe persons who see entertainment in making another person feel miserable.

I was bullied a lot to, until I struck back. They all thought that I was only full of body fat, they didn't realize almost half my body weight is muscle...oh...they kind of pushed me to far one day and off school grounds there was a little accident involving my fist and knee with certain parts of one guy's body.

Then of course there was also the thing with the Health Teacher. I didn't mean to knee him in the nuts, he told me to show him what I'd do in a fight.

can't remember me being bullied... well only one time.. but then i just hit the guy who bullied me in the stomach and i earned my respect... case closed

Hehe I've been there. I could care less what people think of me but it's tough when you fear for your safety at school...

By about grade 5 I'd had enough. I joined a dojo and learned some jujitsu which I combine with kickboxing. A couple years ago I got into weight lifting. I don't give a shit if people waste their breath making fun of me, but these 3 kids tried to steal money from me in grade 9 (I don't live in the best of neighbourhoods). These were the same guys that had given me hell all through elementary school. I gave 'em a few warnings but I was tired of running. I'd ran from people like them, told teachers, parents, everything. Nobody gives a crap. Everyone thinks it's some right of passage but it's not. It's total crap, it's needless and it's distructive to the victims. I'm not a violent person at all, but I'd had it. The first pussy came at me with a baseball bat. I broke his nose nose with a switft side-kick to the face (I was wearing big, black clunkers). The second guy tried to put me in some sort of hold so I threw him over my shoulder onto the concrete. The third guy chickened out and ran home. I went home and called the police. The kid w/ the baseball bat got is some kind of trouble with the police, I don't know exactly what because of an idiotic law in my country called the Young Offenders Act which basically gives kids the freedom to do whatever the hell they want with little or no consequence. He probably had to pick up garbage for a day or something.

The system doesn't work. Most people will stop harrassing you when it reaches a certain point, but if they want to be an ass to you, there's nothing at all to stop them. The only solution is to send an extremely clear message. It usually doesn't have to be violent, like it was in my case, but let 'em know that you won't stand for it.
