I'm taking his exam on his site. Look at this question:

Which of the following items make you Internet ready?

A. Computer, printer, and telephone

B. Computer, HTML software, and browser software.

C. Computer and modem.

D. Computer, modem, and Internet software

unfortunately all answers are wrong.

The correct answer: computer, modem and/or NIC, ISP, and proper software.

Hey, I remember when I first started things like these sites looked amazing. So what if it isn't filled with PSP v.8 high quality pictures, a great color scheme, and/or curved tables with perfect balance? A website is made to provide information. I repeat: A website is made to provide information. That's it! He does just that, provide information! What the hell is wrong with the people these days where low-quality sites are bashed because they don't look cool or they don't have same-sized tables, or a cool background?! You newbies in the ways of the internet (note WWW is not the internet) are just like teens today, losing all principle and buying cars for the sleak look and high bass. No site is perfect, and I can tell you right now you guys can't make perfect websites, and if you did make one I could probably laugh at it the way you guys laugh at his. Do you know why some of the best websites (ranked) hardly have any images or "cool" scripts or "cool" backgrounds? Because a very good website is a website that gives you information in an intuitive manner. The HTML he probably knows is just enough to make a great website.

Empr, D is the correct answer (or should be if it isn't) for the requirements because internet software generalizes ISP and TCP/IP and drivers, etc, all together. No need to get into specifics, as his principle doesn't seem to teach people every specific thing, probably to teach the general concept. And the first question you pasted, it wasn't an answer, it was a choice to pick. Haven't you have a multiple choice question before? Some answers may be bogus or throwing you off.

Ken, you poor chap. Wait til you get loads of threads and the next time he throws an intimidating physics teacher-like tantrum, show him these reponses in portfolio form.

In my school days, we worked on BBC model B micros, RML 380Z Research Machines, etc. and we had to write B.A.S.I.C. programs for it. My whole class, including myself were dumbstruck how crap the teacher was - well, he was our P.E. teacher as much as our computer teacher - crap at both, but we had to conform and do what was asked.

As there was no internet to talk to others about whatever needs talking about, computer users were stereo-typed for nerds and geeks in those days, you couldnt challenge anyone about your thoughts about computers without something derogatory thrown back at you.

In the end our class got so good at writing programs without any help from the teacher as he assumed we were all stupid. The teacher accused us of copying programs from magazines and thus, disregarded our efforts. Aint that an inspirational teacher or what?

Never forgot that. Mr Jones his name was. Bastard.

as I recall... correct me if I'm wrong, but the 1985-ish compuers weren't high-tech enough for isps

well then obviously they aren't internet ready, now are they? ::)

They could be internet ready. They didn't know HTML, or HTTP, I think, but they can yet use other protocols, no?

"So what if it isn't filled with PSP v.8 high quality pictures, a great color scheme, and/or curved tables with perfect balance?"

I agree, but I wouldn't draw anything like that to be shown to other people. If I used the same devices he uses in that page, there would be a bit more of a systematic approach to how I used the tools available.

You should point to my post then because all of you are too immature to realize something with value doesn't have to be fancy or finetuned. Jesus you guys need to grow up.
