Emperor Harkonnen
I don't think the books dune books without harkonnens, are so cool as the ones with them. the reason is that we need one good guy and one bad guy. and I liked that the harkonnens are almost as evil as possible. now that's a real bad guy! ;DDOn't u guys think that in the next dune book the harkonnens should again gain power of giedi prime. if the tleilaxu had blood from the baron, and they made a ghola! Acriku
I think the Hark's should stay where they are, CoD so far has only the [hide]Baron[/hide] in it and it's still good. Boring but good.
Emperor Harkonnen
But don't you agree we need a bad guy, and who should that be?the tleilaxu :P, they suck! >:(the Corrinos?nah not evil enough(please don't say anything about what happens to them in the books after messiah, cos I haven't read them)
Edric O
Leto II is evil enough.
Anathema
Feyd had a bastard child with Fenrings wife, so the Harkonnens haven't been eradicated. But yeah, Vladimir is a good bad guy...did that make sense ???
Timenn
There are much good stories without a bad guy. But if there must be one, take Harkonnens, and not those stupid Honored Matres
Edric O
Again I ask: Isn't Leto II evil enough? There are no good guys in Dune. Or bad guys. Everyone has a personality with good and evil parts.
Anathema
Leto II wasn't really evil- maybe slightly mentally ill, but not evil.Edit: removed CoD spoiler.
Acriku
Earth, you know the meaning of spoiler? And the fact that not EVERYONE is as far as you in the books. I'm on page 148 in CoD, so I know it, but I know how it feels to find out about something that is crucial to the story. Bah! Use the [ hide ] [ /hide ]bud! TMA_1
Leto II was not evil. He himself didnt want to follow the golden path. It was required though for people to survive. The people of the universe were stagnating and could no longer grow into a greater state of being. Leto the tyrant repressed them for a reason. It ended up saving humanity from its own death. Emperor Harkonnen
What happened to feyd's bastard child?
Usul
It was taken by the Bene Gesserit for their wicked schemes but it is never mentioned after Dune.
Emperor Harkonnen
But the harkonnens are pure evil ain't they? they look at themselves also as evil, don't they?and also let's not forget the harkonnen song from emperor: Tribute to evil, man that's a good song
TMA_1
Not every harkonnen is evil. Frank herbert wasnt making starwars ;)
Emperor Harkonnen
Nope, Abulurd wasn't evil. but I think that the ruler should be. hasn't he always been anyway?
Anathema
Who? You mean the baron? (Vladimir)Vladimir was evil from childhood on- his mother encouraged him to be power hungry.
Emperor Harkonnen
I meant the ruler of giedi prime and house harkonnen. has the barons always been evil?
Anathema
Most of them. It's kind a family tradition. Though Vladimirs father Dimitri was a bit softer.
Emperor Harkonnen
not Dimitri, but Dmitri ;)and I read about that in House Harkonnen, I would love to read some more about the previous barons. Does House Atreides tell anything about 'em?
Edric O
The Harkonnen kanly against the Atreides began when an Atreides betrayed a Harkonnen at the battle of Corrin. Talk about a reversal of roles! As you can see, the Harks haven't always been evil and the Atreides haven't always been good.
Usul
What actualy happened back at the battle of Corrin? I heard the kanly started because of a Harkonnens cowerdice.
Acriku
The battle would have been lost because of the cowardice/treachery of the Harkonnen, were it not for the "valience" of an Atreides leader. (if you think that sounds like nema you're right! :))
