Devastator_Mech
Well not really, you do somewhat have of a chance, but you won't SURELY win.
Timenn
It depends. If you destroy the right buildings on time. It can be good. But not with Ordos. Their units are too quick in base
ethan
well, by the time you have the technology for 6 devastators, they will have a sizeable base...
Timenn
But then it even works. And they start very late with building the StarPort and Palace

Devastator_Mech
well, by the time you have the technology for 6 devastators, they will have a sizeable base...Well, you could buy them from the Starport instead of building them separately. IxianMace
Well, you could buy them from the Starport instead of building them separately.By the time you have a starport in place, he'll already be pumping out his best unit. One of the Harkonnen weaknesses is the fact that they require 1 extra structure to get their best/most useful unit. Besides, unless you have 3 starports or so, the delivery takes lots of time. Time which can mean the difference between success, and failure.
Devastator_Mech
But your best unit is much better than their best units, if theirs 6 Devastator in the middle of an enemies base, he's in BIG trouble, even only selfdestructing will probably earn you a victory. IxianMace
Yes, but Devs are much more expensive, and take longer to build than the best units of the other two houses as well. An experienced player won't allow someone to drop Devs in his base, unless he's caught off guard or he's just careless.
Timenn
Well, that are always moments to attack, when the enemy is off-guard. And you can't guard everything at the same time, like the AI
IxianMace
Well I'd keep a careful eye on the radar screen, and never look at one thing for a long time. Situational awareness is very important in stopping sneak attacks like engineer drops and dev drops. However you're right about the part about not being able to keep an eye on everything at the same time though. But the only time you'll get to drop devs in someone's base is when you've half killed him and you're going to finish him, or you've built your Devastator/Advanced Carryall combination before he has adequate air defence. Then you won't need much of a diversion. Just fly through the gap and then set the thing down.
Devastator_Mech
Well you could try use gunships as bait and then airdrop the "things" in.
IxianMace
If I was going to use Gunships as bait, I'd have to make sure that they arrive at roughly the same time as the Advanced Carryalls carrying the Devastators. That way, we get a nice little 'swarm' of aircraft that cannot all be stopped without some damage being caused. However Gunships are expensive to mass produce, which means that you might want to find a cheaper unit to use as bait, or only rush with Gunships when you intend to take out key buildings, and not just use them as bait. Using Gunship rushes and combining them with Devastator drops has a lot of potential to do massive damage.
Devastator_Mech
Ok, then why not combine 2 rush into one, and before that, just play defend.
IxianMace
You should not just play defend unless you are very vulnerable to attack. Attacking will keep the enemy occupied (hopefully) long enough for you to put even more pressure on him. Never let the other guy form a battle plan and execute it. ALWAYS try to sabotage his plans and bring the battle to his base. Few players can defend and attack effectively and simultaneously. If you can, then you an excellent player in the sense that you can manage several things at once.
Devastator_Mech
My meaning of play "defend" is to have your base and a certain radius of your base defended. And also have Fremens ambushed everywhere, but not attack your enemy's base until your ready for the "super attack".
