I heard about this but in my country we haven`t it yet. What it is about? This is some chronology? Are there characters from E:BFD?

DE is Dune : Encyclopedia. It is endorsed by frank Herbert. It includes the Ordos and has many short storys and descriptions. It's not likely you will find it as no one can. It went out of publish.

Actually you can buy it online at auctions like ebay, but occasionally you can find a used one for sale on a publishing house.

Expect to pay about $100 USD on an online auction.  I payed about $150 (~230 CAD!!!) for my mint copy (hardcover).

DE was accepted by Frank Herbert, but he never used it to his later novels. He made his own characters, and because The Master wrote different things and DE became "apocryphal".

for those that have read it. like vanguard I bet since he has it. and me. and others out there who I dont know.lol They will agree that his writing style is ingenious. I love his work. You are negative about the book because other people have said its not canon. if you have looked you would see the the prequels are mistaken in many many things. so what is canon?

actually it was made by Dr. Willis McNelly, a friend of Frank Herbert. FH himself thought it was a good piece of work but did not follow it.. I think FH thought he could think of better things :) There is also a ukranian version I believe on the internet, that's a different Dune Ency

Actually it WAS created by Dune fans, but McNelly turned it into a book.

And TMA_1: I'm not negative about it I just said I'm following the Herbert timeline. I didn't say, that DE is bad, I said it doesn't match with FH's version...

no it wasnt written by fans and anyway. frank in his message before the DE starts states taht he is the FIRST FAN and the GREATEST FAN of the dune series. Him and McNelly were good friends and were going to work together on books. I dont think you guys should say he is any other fan. He has a degree in english and worked wtih many professors on the book. overlooked by Frank himself. so there you go:)

TMA the book has contributors in the hundreds, maybe thousands! All McNelly did was possibly edit it, add stuff on his own, and compile it all into a neat book.

actually TMA is right, McNelly spend 8 years writing it, or he writes very slow or he made it himself
