Just a reminder to forum goers to check your system for this virus. I was getting a lot of emails that just had "Re:" in the subject line, probably close to 25 now and just realized that it is caused by the sender having the Badtrans virus. So you may want to check the link below for details if you use Outlook Express and opened weird attachments in the last while.

Last time around with the sircam virus it was a pain in the arse downloading huge attachments, especially for Mahdi as it completely screwed up his account, luckily this one doesn't seem as bad but it's still annoying. :)

If you are getting email with Re: as the subject it means the person sending you the email has the virus not the other way around.

While the subject changes each time for this virus, the text always remains the same, which makes it real easy to detect:

Hi! How are you?

I send you this file in order to have your advice

I've one from Boavista subject of 'odyssey', and one from an Ivan Simic with 'Re:'. I will just delete the both of them.

I got one that said emperorFAQ by ricardo. I was going to open the file but stopped and deleted the e-mail because of the name.

The name of the person or people sending it changes in nearly every e-mail.  The only thing that remains the same is the text.

actually, viruses like that tend to keep the same sender when done by an inexperienced hacker. i should know. i have lots of hacker friends. how many of you have seen the movie hackers?
