Timenn
Yes, as it says, no more irritating mails spamming your inbox. From now on, companies are not allowed anymore to sent unwanted emails to persons.Though, this only counts for European companies, America will soon follow, at least, that is thought :)
Acriku
Holy cow will that be the day. Everyday about 50 junkmails in my inbox - and some bastard company sent 800 junkmails which in effect shut my account down for some time, disallowing any e-mails to come through, and I missed a bunch. Down to junkmail!
Anathema
Mmmm I don't receive THAT much crap but still...I'll just wait and see if they really stop doing it :-/.
Acriku
Well it doesn't really help to put your e-mail address on your website, which I did, and those pesky cyber-spiders grab it and put it in their list. Grr...
Timenn
Well, Acriku where are you from? But it is forbidden to send spam to people didn't ask for. So if you haven't signed in then it will be illegal. And if you signed in for spam, then you're doomed...
Acriku
Orlando Florida, and I know not to sign up for anything like that, but some things may have had something like that hidden in the Legal agreement form (which I hardly read).
Timenn
It need to be clearly said. If it is hidden in the license agreement after a different story it is illegal, but if it has a own paragraph it's allowed. In America it isn't forbidden, but hopefully it will be soon...But you can stop spam now if you say with junk mail filter: exclusive, they only let emails from people in your adress book though. But then you have to fish out real mails. But I prefer that above 50 mails in my inbox a day
Acriku
I use that for Hotmail, and the Junk folder is what is filled every day. It is annoying to fish out the real emails but it's worth it because of the one button "Empty folder".
Timenn
Yes, I hope that all will be over when America joins with this. And Asia must follow to quickly, because they spam alot too
nampigai
"Yes, I hope that all will be over when America joins with this. And Asia must follow to quickly, because they spam alot too "This will not happen ;). anyways spam really do piss me of especially the porn shit, but also the "you've won a travel...blahblabla" :PI wonder if anyone is stupid enough to fall for it. Timenn
From what I heard, America would join. You can view it from the other side. You can sue companies then for abusing of emailadresses etc. And most people are thinking it's annoying. And the USA is still a democratic country. I think they will follow soon. But for then, you have been rid of the European spam

Inhuien
How can you say "Spam has nothing to do with democracy" free speech is a primary tenant of democracy, however I agree that unsolicited email are a pain in the arse.

Anathema
Timenn said that the USA would outlaw spam because they are a democracy- I can't see the relevance.
Timenn
Well spam has to do with freedom of speech, but if many people find it annoying they can arrange that it should be forbidden, that's democracy, it follows the will of the people (that should be :P)

Caid Ivik
Yea, long live people's republic of Europe. There were some tries to build one - especially in late 40's :-/Timenn, did you mean whole Europe or only west?
Anathema
He probably means the EU countries.I don't believe there were any real tries to make a European republic. It doesn't sound like a good idea either. Though there was an earlier form of the EU not long after the war.
Timenn
I meant the EU, so that's Netherlands, England, Austria, Greece etc.But maybe the other European countries are going to do that too, but they don't spam that much compared to others
Anathema
I don't think anybody is going to sue a European company for spamming his mailbox.
