In Europe, spam will be forbidden

Yes, as it says, no more irritating mails spamming your inbox. From now on, companies are not allowed anymore to sent unwanted emails to persons.

Though, this only counts for European companies, America will soon follow, at least, that is thought

:)

Holy cow will that be the day. Everyday about 50 junkmails in my inbox - and some bastard company sent 800 junkmails which in effect shut my account down for some time, disallowing any e-mails to come through, and I missed a bunch. Down to junkmail!

Well it doesn't really help to put your e-mail address on your website, which I did, and those pesky cyber-spiders grab it and put it in their list. Grr...

Well, Acriku where are you from?

But it is forbidden to send spam to people didn't ask for. So if you haven't signed in then it will be illegal. And if you signed in for spam, then you're doomed...

Orlando Florida, and I know not to sign up for anything like that, but some things may have had something like that hidden in the Legal agreement form (which I hardly read).

It need to be clearly said. If it is hidden in the license agreement after a different story it is illegal, but if it has a own paragraph it's allowed.

In America it isn't forbidden, but hopefully it will be soon...

But you can stop spam now if you say with junk mail filter: exclusive, they only let emails from people in your adress book though. But then you have to fish out real mails. But I prefer that above 50 mails in my inbox a day

I use that for Hotmail, and the Junk folder is what is filled every day. It is annoying to fish out the real emails but it's worth it because of the one button "Empty folder".

Yes, I hope that all will be over when America joins with this.

And Asia must follow to quickly, because they spam alot too

This will not happen ;). anyways spam really do piss me of especially the porn shit, but also the "you've won a travel...blahblabla" :P

I wonder if anyone is stupid enough to fall for it.

From what I heard, America would join.

You can view it from the other side. You can sue companies then for abusing of emailadresses etc. And most people are thinking it's annoying. And the USA is still a democratic country. I think they will follow soon.

But for then, you have been rid of the European spam

i hate junkmail. especialy hotmail junkmail it sucks. if i set the junk filter i dont get any messages. i turn it off i get 100 letters

10% say i won something

10% say if u wanna lose 30 punds in 30 days come here

and the remaining 80% is porn

Posted

You usaly have to enter your email adress to be sent free porn.......not that I would know....thats just what I hear...So i dont think it would be spam if you asked for it....

I have too hotmail and in junk e-mail folder I have been looking and there was so many crap that I wondered how many of these they can send in one day. In another mail, not hotmail, I had all of them in my real inbox and it was so annoying. For what I need message that I`ve just won huge price and only what I have to do is send them 50$ and they will recive me 100? Its redicilous.

How can you say "Spam has nothing to do with democracy" free speech is a primary tenant of democracy, however I agree that unsolicited email are a pain in the arse.

Posted

Well spam has to do with freedom of speech, but if many people find it annoying they can arrange that it should be forbidden, that's democracy, it follows the will of the people (that should be :P)

Yea, long live people's republic of Europe. There were some tries to build one - especially in late 40's  :-/

Timenn, did you mean whole Europe or only west?

Posted

He probably means the EU countries.

I don't believe there were any real tries to make a European republic. It doesn't sound like a good idea either. Though there was an earlier form of the EU not long after the war.

I meant the EU, so that's Netherlands, England, Austria, Greece etc.

But maybe the other European countries are going to do that too, but they don't spam that much compared to others
