Alright, I had a search of the boards and I couldn't see anything like this around, so here goes.  This thread is for venting rage at things in life that really grind your gears, to coin a phrase.  Those things, major or minor, that incite varying levels of rage; from mild grinding of the teeth to full-blown, foaming-mouth killing spree.  While "Me, too!" posts are good, be sure to try and include some of your own pet peeves.  I'll be sure to update this thread every time I encounter / remember something else that makes my blood boil.

While I don't imagine that saying you hate a specific person will be frowned upon, that changes if it's another forum member you're referring to.  So keep that sort of thing out of the thread, no matter how much you may want to voice it. :P

I'll begin with my hate for the new YouTube layout.  I thought it was just another April Fools joke, but apparently it's been in planning for months.  From what I can gauge, a good deal of others really dislike it as well.  I imagine they've invested too much time and effort to just change it back, but it really annoys me that they just went "Surprise!  New layout, you're stuck with it so get used to it!".

I hate this advert.  And I'm fully aware that I'm forcing you to endure the new YouTube layout at the same time as watching it.  The irony does not escape me.  The advert is sexist to both genders and makes me want to punch my TV every time it's aired.

I hate Twilight, or The Super-Special Adventures of Sparkles the Vampire, and all associated new-age vampire angst teen-actor crap that it induced.  Games like Vampire: The Masquerade - Bloodlines are the proper portrayal of vampires and such.  Not this melodramatic bile.

ARGH.  That's enough hate for now, I think.  Feel free to add your own content.

Haha that advert is awful!  I've never seen it before!  A lot worse than the Calgon adverts, and the Bounty ones...what did that change its name to?  Was it Plenty?

I hate that so many historic European buildings have been spoilt with the addition of an EU flag.

Redundancy :P

Seriously though, I don't hate

in themselves. I'm annoyed that they exist, and thus interrupt television that I want to watch with television that I do not, but it's hardly a driving hatred in my life.

I get annoyed more than I hate things. I'm irritated, sometimes seriously, by things such as BH/KJA Dune novels, organised religion and knee-jerk anti-intellectual bullshit from people who are too stupid to know one end of a dodo from the other. Hatred, though, requires a level of emotional and energetic investment that I generally can't be bothered expending on things that don't deserve the attention.

The fact that there's never an attempt at queueing in Germany.

The fact that I can't watch BBC iPlayer in Germany.

Not being able to work weekends to earn extra money due to the conditions of my grant.

Yeah, I immediately thought of that one when reading the OP ;D

Don't be so hard on TV commercials. They are useful when the need to visit the smallest room arises ;)

I like your attitude :) Most annoying things don't deserve even the slightest fraction of hatred, that would be too much for 'em, wouldn't it? ;)

Smugness. ;)

I don't hate adverts unless I'm watching something really important.  I disagree that things don't deserve to be hated; for me, it presents a healthy and victimless way to vent frustration, allowing me to be the generally peaceable, happy and optimistic person that I normally am.

I hate Facebook spam, and by extension, all this stupid Farmville / Cafe World crap.  Really, people?  You need lids for your jars?  The world will end if you don't sell those 1000 pies you just cooked?  I don't give a damn, stop inviting me to these things.

Taking inspiration from Dante's link, I also hate bees and wasps.  Buggers always try and fly in my window during the spring and summer, meaning I can't have it open even a crack.

I hate moths for the same reason, except that they come in during the night.  Why must you go for the face, little moth?  I kill them dead.

See, that's a level of emotional investment that doesn't strike me as particularly productive or satisfying. And seriously, you can put moths outside. Bees and wasps too for that matter.

Note that emotional investment isn't the same as physical investment. I'm quite prepared to spend time and effort denigrating the things that annoy me (see practically any Duniverse topic on the prequels), because it's amusing and personally satisfying. But when I'm done, I'm done. I don't want to spend all my time hating something when I'm not actively insulting it. Whenever it sprang to mind I'd have to go through the motions of "Ooohhh, I really hate X, it makes me boil over and clench my fists just thinking about it." Too much effort.

If you hate Twilight and want a real Vampire tv show...

Get a screen.

I'm allergic to wasps.  Thus, I do hate it when they sting me.

True Blood struck me as an adult (Ie. softcore porn) soap opera with vampires.

What's wrong with that? :P

At least they're not holding back and making yet another PG-13 based show/film on vampires etc.

Maybe going a bit over the top with all the sex themes/content. Season 2 was all orgies and stuff.

I dunno, I just found the whole thing uninteresting.  Might as well google "Anna Paquin sex scene" and save yourself 50 minutes of trite vampire emo bullshit.

Then again, I could be wrong.  I haven't bothered to check out any of the show since it started.  Speaking of which, Spartacus has actually picked up in recent episodes.

Edit:  Since the advertising campaign for the third season of True Blood consist of a red background with white letters spelling "VILF" I'm gonna go ahead and assume I'm not wrong.

Vampires having sex with kine?  That's frowned upon in proper circles.  Just ask Therese Voerman. :P

Alas, my window is such that it cannot be fitted with a screen very easily.  It's hinged at the bottom and opens inwards at an angle.

I hate awkward windows.

Get some screen, and staple it to something. :P inside or outside of window frame.

If I went without screen at my house we'd go crazy. First the mosquitos would kill us in summer. Second we've already had a bird fly through a small 2" squared hole in the screen. And the Mud Dauber are always annoying along with flies.

I hate bottled water. I hate people who insist on drinking bottled water instead of tap water. Despite the fact that American tap water has been proven to be safer then bottled water. Bottled water does not have any regulation on it when transported across state lines.

I hate people who said good in conversation instead of well. "He did good." no bitch, its "He did well." Which is surprising how i have a history of torturing the English language my self.

That's pretty much it for now.

I hate Sega for ruining the Sonic series.

You obviously haven't heard about this, then.  No more stupid friends.  No ridiculous encounters with humans.  Back to the original storyline, picking up where it left off.  2D side scrolling action.  YES.

I hate people who don't pratice proper hygiene.  Seriously, you stink.  Unless you have a medical reason, and you're upfront about it, then you need to sort yourself the hell out.

I was disgusted to hear that a recent survey showed that 50% of the men in the UK won't have showered today. :(

I prefer baths, for sure, but most of the time I'm too impatient to take them. I like to soak for more than an hour, and some people just don't take well to having the bathroom occupied for that long. So short showers for me. Shame.

Why am I talking about this? Oh god, I'm turning into Dunenewt.

Actually, I was saying that I hate Sega with that game in mind.

Well that's nice.  I suppose you've changed your Amy Rose wallpaper, then.

I, on the other hand, only hate entire companies for passably sensible reasons.  Like DRM policies.  The only people that they cause grief to is legitimate consumers.

Hey, thanks Ubisoft.  If my internet connection goes down, I am certainly more than happy to have my game stopped in its tracks.  Because I may have suddenly decided to pirate in the miniscule time gap between your tests.  Meanwhile, the real pirates have already bypassed your piddly little checks and are burning thousands of knock-offs.

Same goes for EA and the whole Spore / BioShock debacle.  Companies can limit piracy by making legitimate versions more attractive that cracked ones.  You cannot stop piracy.  Please stop trying, you're embarassing yourselves.

I also hate my room's insulating qualities.  It's full of paper (books) and plastic (games), and thus retains a good amount of the heat that the sun helpfully shines through my window.  I can't open my window, as I've already mentioned, during the day.  Because of bees.  Alas, it would be very difficult to make any sort of screen that wouldn't also restrict the window's operation.  So it has to be at night, when I run the risk of attracting moths.

But even then, coupled with an open door, my room is shaped so that a breeze is rare and ineffective at removing any of this heat.  With my PC and/or games console on, it can get insanely hot in here.  One of the many reasons I dislike the warmer months.

I have, but that's besides the point; I never said I hate Sonic, nor did I give all the reasons as to why I hate (and by hate I mean strongly dislike) Sega.

This guy pretty much covers why Sonic 4 is nothing to be excited about: http://nicochi.deviantart.com/journal/31203237/#comments

From your own link: LOGIC!

Being more specific, instead of using sweeping generalisations, is generally the best idea.  Bonus points if you saw what I did there.

Besides, that review is nitpicking, no matter what it might say about "waaah, you can't say that, it makes your argumentationses all weak".  Sonic 4 is a huge step in the right direction.  Any leaked video showing unfinished gameplay can take a running jump.  Or possibly a Super Sonic Spin Dash.

I am on fire today. :P

Oh yeah I forgot, Dimps partly made this game (as co-developers with Sonic Team). Sega still bears responsibility though, for hiring the people who have almost exclusively made shitty Sonic games to make Sonic 4, Sonic team hasn't exactly been much good either.

Sorry, but broken physics and gameplay designed for ''RUN RUN RUN'' (springs, homing attack, constant boosters,e.t.c) gameplay instead of Classic Sonic gameplay is not nitpicking.

Homing attack especially spits in the face of the core of Sonic gameplay. Even if it doesn't do that much damage by itself, it says all we need to know about Sonic 4's design philosophy, and it completely ruins the flow of the game, especially with those stupid homing attack chains, not to mention it makes the spin dash less useful since you can just use it to boost on the move.

As for what we've seen so far, it's more than enough.

Just ask Nicochi so he can explain it in detail to you.

No bonus points! :(

Nit.  Picking.  The entire game has moved back to 2D.  They've dropped all characters bar Sonic and Robotnik.

(Small aside: I hate that they refer to him as Eggman.  His name, you assholes, is Doctor Ivo Robotnik.)

They're keeping aspects that make the game accessible to this generation's drooling youth, who need games fed almost intravenously.  A lot of what that dolt (and you, by extension) describe as "classic gameplay" were just limitations.  Did you never run so fast in the original games that the camera couldn't keep up?  Do you honestly believe that they wouldn't have made it even faster if they could?

Sonic has always been about speed first, tactics second.  Simple tactics, not complex.  Push this; jump that; balance this; swing from this; avoid that.  But the core gameplay mechanic is speed.  If you don't like the homing attack, don't bloody use it, unless the gameplay requires it (hitting a button or something).  Don't want to use it to speed up?  Then don't.

The important part is that Sonic 4 is a drastic about-turn, going back to the roots that made the games great in the first place.  There are a few stragglers that still need to be shaken off, but not so many as to make the game crap.  And one smegging video certainly isn't "more than enough".  Play the inevitable free demo for yourself and form your own opinions, instead of letting this Nicochi person do it for you.

(Another aside: I hate it when people use the opinions of other people as the basis for their own.  Unless it's a trusted friend or family member, or a clear black and white scenario, there's no basis to do this.  Form your own opinions for your own reasons, for crying out loud.)

EDIT: Before any smart arse decides to point out things like movie / game / book / etc. reviews, I accept that there are circumstances where you need to rely on others' judgement.
